Description

Featuring a total of 60 special weapons of six different types – 10 each of flamers, plasma guns, meltaguns, rotor cannons, volkite charger, and volkite calivers, each with five slightly different designs – the Special Weapons Upgrade Set will give you plenty of options for turning your Mark VI Space Marines into Tactical Support Squads. Heavy Weapons Upgrade Set – Missile Launchers and Heavy Bolters

Last but not least, we have ten of the plastic Cataphractii Terminators introduced in Betrayal at Calth. You can assemble the models with Lightning claws, or combi-bolters and power fists/chain fists, and there is also a heavy flamer, and a power sword and grenade harness for the Sergeant. Legs and torso are separate for more posing options. The kits are actually very good. There are five poses around which you assemble your miniatures, pictures below. There is also an alternate build for a sergeant. Featuring 60 and 20 individual weapons sets respectively, it’s a great way to add immediate variety and strategic choice to the 40 marines you have in the box. One of the most flexible legions, you can actually go a couple of different ways easily enough with this box. The Dark Angels are split up into the six wings of the Hexagrammaton, so it’s common to focus in on one of those for your army, at least to begin with.

What a lot of stuff! We’ve seen big guys with big weapons, smaller guys with massive guns, a half-dead guys in a huge suit of armour, and an enormous tank. The Mk VI are of course a boon. Two 10-marine tactical squads is a great place to start, but beyond that it’s time to get a little creative. Recon squads are great in the new edition, and even better for Raven Guard, so building 10 of the marines in this box as a unit of them is a good plan. You can easily just paint them in a few camo streaks to denote them. You can just run them with bolters, but nemesis bolters are fantastic. As there are no official models for those yet, you can either find some sniper rifles from somewhere, or just find some rod of the appropriate size and extend the bolter barrels to be a silencer – perfect for snipers. For the last ten you could go several different ways – seekers are great, and again just need a different paint scheme. But since all of your tactical support squads will be getting Infiltrate, it’s hard to dislike 5 meltagun supports and 5 flamer supports to run in and cause havoc up close. So the game is all Space Marine Vs Space Marine. (forget your Orks, Eldar and other races – they don’t matter here). Though you may see the odd Daemon lurking about amongst the traitor legions. This valiant chariot is based on one of the earliest tank designs ever created by Games Workshop, albeit with a vastly improved kit brought bang up to date for the 3rd Millennium. It’s the perfect way to ferry your footslogging Legion Tactical Squads between objectives. Mk III Tactical SquadThat’s the first reason we’re looking at the guide. The second reason we’re taking a peek at it here is that it features an introductory army list. This is the first time GW have ever done something like this (as far as I know at least, and I’m happy to be corrected if mistaken). Kitbashers and converters will also be able to go to town on these guys. Their builds are very simple and modular, which makes chopping and changing parts very easy. In all, though, this is a stunning book. It feels very special – and extremely official. No matter your reason for buying the Age of Darkness set, there will be something in this book you can enjoy.
