In late 2009, CMG confirmed a deal to sell on the title to Icon Publishing (which was formed by Bryn Williams again with Steve Small who has a long established relationship with the annual from being the Picture Editor).

One of the greatest strengths of AUTOCOURSE through the years has been its superb photographic coverage. Many of the world’s leading motor sport photographers have been regular contributors, their images providing the ultimate pictorial record of each racing season. As for the non-appearance of the 2002 Indy 500 Yearbook, theunions, I'm afraid I can't answer that at the moment - largely due to the fact that I wasn't aware it had missed a year! I'll enquire, however. Mark alluded to the fact that we're a group of real enthusiasts at Crash - Bryn and I both have around 30 editions of Autocourses each already - and we're really buzzing at the prospect of now being publishers of some truly iconic offline titles. Bryn and I began our collections by being given Autocourse as Christmas gifts by our parents, so it's not hard to appreciate why Bryn described the acquisition as "the proudest day of my [professional] life" in the press release...For 2021 a record 22-race schedule was planned, and despite changes to venues, the F1 championship was very much up and running by March 2021. I'm realistic enough to assume that the mass-market wants at least as much F1 as there is now, though.

The Jim Clark Cup was run in 1987 for normally aspirated cars, with their teams challenging for the Colin Chapman Trophy. Points were 9-6-4-3-2-1 as per the main championship, although at the start of the season there were not enough atmo cars competing. The Tyrrells of Palmer and Streiff dominated (Tyrrell were helped in being the only team to run 2 cars throughout the season) with Palmer eventually winning. Towards the end of the year the championship got more competitive as Capelli in the March and the Larrousse drivers caught up with the Tyrrells. I think all the atmo cars ran Cosworth engines. The atmo cars could also score points in the regular championship, and Palmer was first atmo car in that too, helped by 5th at Monaco and 4th in Australia. As a matter of interest, does anyone have any particular things they'd like to see added or omitted, or maybe changed/improved with the 'Courses? I hasten to add that there's no plan whatsoever to take a hatchet to the titles, far from it, but a wee bit of tweaking in the right direction is always possible.Autocourse is a series of annuals covering motor racing, and Formula One in particular. The annuals cover a long period of the sport's history, from 1951 to the present day, and, as such, are highly collectible.

I vaguely recall that they may even have had a normally-aspirated "championship" in 1987? Not that it was considered particularly important, but I guess Palmer was getting credit for winning that. Maybe someone else recalls more about that. Wit respect to Senna but I guess that the influence within the '94 season within the races he did participate was too small to even consider the #1 spot open in '94. You can have detail overkill though. I bought the first of the official Bernie-sanctioned F1 annuals - and just got totally bogged down in it. Some reasonable pictures, but it was just data, data, data -- no real analysis or synthesis at all. The fact that there was a story to be told was almost entirely incidental. Ideal for the F1 monomaniac, but not really interesting. Now, I've scored the drivers 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for their placings, and compiled an overall list from 1966-present, with number of placings in the top 5:The 2000 edition listed all the number ones from the inception of the top ten in 1966, but not 2-10 each time. So does anyone have that information? Indeed. I think that's what did happen, although the manner in which Villeneuve beat Schumacher at the last race seemed to be a real hit with Alan Henry. Whereas Hakkinen had Schumacher nowhere near him at the finale of 1998, it wasn't the same nail biting, wheel to wheel finish. Impressions count for alot obviously. Motor racing’s other major categories are also fully covered: WEC and Le Mans sports car successes; the closely-fought Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships, featuring emerging young talent from around all continents of the world; and the tightly fought Formula E series for electric powered single seaters. I would like to see less on F1, cos it's everywhere. F1 Racing, Autosport &c. Keep the lap charts (and lap times would be interesting) and team analyses, I'd maybe have less on the race itself and more on the surrounding issues (those little boxes), and a lot more on the other formulae - the coverage of the Split has been minimal when it should have had something pretty in-depth. Congrats. This is exciting on a number of fronts - both personally for you and for us. Thanks, Ruairidh - it certainly is!

This consists of the full results table for the season, featuring each driver and accompanied since 1996 by a group photo of all the drivers in one of the Grands Prix. Other statistics are also given, such as overall career details for each driver and their average qualifying position over the season. AUTOCOURSE includes all the hectic action from the top Touring Car series – the World Touring Car Cup and the British Touring Car Championships as well as the reconfigured DTM Series now running GT cars from Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Ferrari. As for adding things - looking at the '03 IRL/Indy annual - a lot more historic and/or feature articles in the Clymer and Hungness vein, including those of a nature far more esoteric than the rather generic Jim Clark and "Homemade Heroes" pieces in '03 that easily could've been used in just about any other year. In sports car racing, the all-conquering Toyota, once again took the honours at the Le Mans 24-hour race. Also covered are the door-banging exploits of the leading touring car series - the World Touring Car Championship, DTM (German Touring Cars) and the British Touring Car Championship.DC in 1994 started 8/16 and is ranked 5th. So I think Autocourse dodged the issue on rating MS for 99!!!
