Description

Broker’s Gin was launched in the 1990’s. Supposedly created based on an early 18th century recipe— botanically, probably not in terms of base spirit, the base spirit is clean and clearly column distilled— it’s known as one of the bigger juniper-forward classic-style gins on the market today.

In short, for non-sweetened spirits the most important way to count calories is by looking at the proof. If it’s a 30% ABV vodka, it’s going to have fewer calories than a Navy Strength Gin. Because alcohol contributes to calories far more than sugar— even sweetened spirits will be more determined by their ABV. Made in a 200 year-old gin distillery outside London- triple-distilled spirit is used to macerate/steep the ingredients which are then distilled a 4th time in a copper pot still. Alcoholic spirits originally found their place as a “cure all’ in medieval Europe. Gin was the next step, incorporating the medical benefits held in plants. Various botanical elements were thought to have different health giving properties most notably in the case of gin, juniper. When mixed with spiritus alcohol a rudimentary medicine was formed and became popular all over the continent.Notes:Made in a 200 year-old gin distillery outside London- triple-distilled spirit is used to macerate/steep the ingredients which are then distilled a 4th time in a copper pot still. However, if your goal is to merely count calories and watch your caloric count look to the proof of the spirit. Sip your spirits neat, or with soda water. Broker’s Gin is very flavorful and very bright. Sweet bright citrus on the nose, and a bright dose of juniper as well. Possibly a hint of spice and florals around the edges, but it maintains a straightforward classic approach with a nice bit of juniper character. Questo gin fresco, ai petali di rosa, è stato prodotto per onorare la mamma del capo distillatore, Rose. Si tratta di un piccolo lotto di Gin, molto speciale, che nasce da una completa rielaborazione della ricetta del Wild Botanical Gin.

The base spirit for Broker's Gin is quadruple-distilled pure grain spirit made from English wheat. The flavour is provided by ten natural botanical ingredients, the primary one of which is juniper berries. The botanicals are steeped in the base spirit in the still for 24 hours. The spirit is then distilled a fifth and final time.First Impression: Juniper, witchhazel and cassia, followed with citrus. The high proof gives it more alcohol bite but this is to be expected. Even at 94 proof though, this gin shows a subtlety of blending. Broker’s Gin is distributed across the United States and in over 40 other countries. It was introduced to the U.S. market in 2001 in partnership with Hood River Distillers, Inc. [4] Distilling Process [ edit ] The palette is hot and spicy juniper. A good deal of heat and warmth. 94 proof, enough to keep you toasty on a winter’s eve. Starts with a hint of juniper before the citrus aromas absolutely flourish.

D.C. Gin from New Columbia, One Eight, District Distilling, Jos A. Magnus and Co., and Republic Restoratives ( ) Until the industry and its regulatory authorities catch up and begin being more transparent about nutrition information, this is perhaps the best shorthand for figuring out calories. For sugar content, look for the designation “dry.” In the European Union it is regulated that “a distilled gin may be designated as ‘dry’ if it does not add more than 0.1 grams of sweetening products per liter.” This is part of the London Dry definition as well. But even gins that don’t explicitly say it are rarely sweetened above the 0.1g/L threshold. Broker’s London Dry Gin is a brand of gin micro-distilled at a 200-year-old distillery located near Birmingham, England, using a traditional copper pot still. [1] Drinks: Makes a excellent martini, but remember to adjust your dilution and cooling to compensate for the slightly higher proof (in other words shake it a little longer). That being said, it will chill better than most as the higher proof seems to keep the botanicals blended better at a colder temperature than most and gives you a lovely molten glass appearance. It will cater to those martini drinkers who either remember the older style of gin (and martinis), or aspire to know what it was (and is)-a little less subtle, (but balanced), more body for the old style crowd or someone who wants to try something a bit different. One of my favorites for a gin and tonic which can actually be a more difficult drink for a gin to stand out in. Martini is nice, but I find it good and not exceptional. I’m looking for that one thing to stand out here and quite unfortunately, complimented with Vermouth, it seems to take on an “everyday” sort of feeling. Where’s that balance? Langley distillery uses only traditional pot stills for the production of Brokers Gin. This is because pot stills are better for extracting maximum flavour from the botanicals in a traditional hand-crafted fashion. The distillery has a mini-still, which is used for making small batches of gin from different recipes. The recipe for Broker’s Gin is 200 years old and was chosen after taste-testing against several newer recipes.
