About this deal

The S200 stoves were intended as picnic and hiking stoves, they were even used on Everest in the 1970's as there was nothing better about then. Having given two talks on camping stoves at recent festivals, one of the key things I realised was that not everyone knows about the different types of gas canisters available for camping stoves. For safety reasons, I will always continue to remove gas from my stove after using it. I prefer to be safe rather than worrying about losing a minimal amount of gas when removing. Gas stoves can be expensive especially if you want double burners. It is cheaper to buy two single stoves, considering the gas type, and the size of the gas container. Read our article on the top budget gas stoves, safety aspects per stove, size and weight. Plus the pros and cons of each.

Even fewer knew that there are several dual fuel stoves and handy little adaptors you can get for your camping stove that will allow it to use any type of gas. If you have precooked frozen food to cook. Allow food to defrost before cooking if possible. This will reduce the time you will need to use your stove. The main difference is the proportion of propane to butane. More propane = better cold weather performance. The exact mix of propane, butane and isobutane is usually secret. But above 5 degreees Celsius (41 Fahrenheit), you probably don’t need any butaneSpecifically, with a ‘dual fuel’ stove below or one of the adaptors below, you can use multiple types of gas cylinder, which will maximise your chances of finding gas canisters all over the world, wherever you are. It’s a good way to save money too as the alternatives are often cheaper. How long does a fuel canister last using a single-burner stove What is the best boil time for a gas stove? Nothing is more frustrating than going camping and realising you do not have enough gas to make your coffee or cook your meal. Some people seem to think that certain brands give a more consistent flow and let you use the full canister better. But that’s not widely experienced, there’s no obvious consistency in which are the best/worst brands, and I don’t know of any reason that would be true (ultimately, they are just metal pots filled with gas).

The S200 stoves used on Everest in the 1970's by the likes of Doug Scott and Dougal Hasten used C200 Butane canisters. In the morning they would light one stove and get a tiny flame. They would then place the 2nd stove above the lit one to warm up the gas. Once both stoves were warmed up and lit they would be able to make breakfast.

Can it be stored outside in a garden shed?

The best boil time for a single camping stove is the Outwell Appetizer Solo at 3.10 minutes. However, if it is windy, you can expect to add another 2-3 minutes on top. It allows for an uneven heat source and having to relight your stove because it has blown out like any camping stove. It does not matter how good a windshield is; it cannot always protect your stove against the wind. How to reduce your gas usage? This guide gives a simple explanation of the different types of camping gas available, which one you need for your camping stove and where you can find them. Double burner stoves are ideal for cooking if you do not cook using one saucepan. If you need several burners working simultaneously, they are ideal. Buying two single burners is a cheaper option than a double burner. You do not need to worry about refilling the cylinders. Butane 220g gas canisters are more affordable and easier to store and transport. Please make sure that it only works when it is completely empty. Depending on the variant - this is not so easy.

There are only a few manufacturers of [screw thread] canisters world wide, and they manufacture all the different brands. So two different brands often come off the same production line in Korea. One thing I noticed on both the original valve of the 270 and the donor valve from the Coleman Peak 1 is that the part number "06F125" is clearly shown on both valves.

Why don't you advise using butane propane mix on bluet type stoves, Bramston? There is no reason for that? Indeed the bluet stoves on Everest used a butane propane mix as pure butane simply wouldn't have worked. Those canisters worked their way into the climbing community. I used a globetrotter in the early eighties that used both and my father's 1970s bluet also could use both. As for saying there was nothing better...... svea? You can judge how much gas a canister leaves by weight and shaking. However, this will not help ensure you have sufficient gas to last for your trip. How long does gas last on a camping stove? If you need a lightweight stove there are now better lightweight stoves available using Butane/Propane mix gas.

Remember, gentle, slow but steady pressure and the brass jet will pop loose with minimal deformity to the brass jet. We have based our calculations on experience and, on average, 150g of fuel burned per hour. It means that 2.5g of gas is burnt per minute of usage for a single burner stove. Double gas stoves are larger and generally supplied with a lid with sides to help shield from the wind whilst cooking. However, do not rely on these windshields; use either a windbreaker or a camping kitchen unit with an attachable shield. They require a hose and regulator and cannot be attached to a small 220g canister as a single portable gas stove.A coffee mug holds 350 ml, just under 1/3 of a litre. One litre of water takes an average of 3.10 minutes. Potentially just 350ml of water can boil in just over 1 minute. Plus, I’ve included details of some little known adaptors that will allow you to use any gas cylinder on your camping stove and three stoves that will take more than type of canister.
