Also really, your comic book is more important to you than to call the police? Whut? I know that comic book is expensive and all, but aren't you in danger? Urgh. On the one hand, the writing is great. My kids laughed out loud, cheered, and gasped at all the right spots. They were hooked, begging for 'one more chapter' each time I'd go to close the book for the night. At the end of each chapter we'd make our guesses on what could happen next, and see if we were right when we did read it. Then the entire world will learn the truth about the night I MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared and NEVER returned to South Ridge Middle School!

I knew middle school was going to be really hard, but I never expected to be BURIED ALICE in a DUMPSTER full of ROTTING GARBAGE, wearing an ICE PRINCESS COSTUME and BIKER BOOTS!" But they didn't. Nothing got resolved. NOTHING. My kids, who were on a high wondering how Max would solve the problem, crashed when it ended with a 'to be continued'. They were very upset. We'd been reading this book for nearly a month, and there was no resolution. No end to the story. One of them even said they'd felt 'ripped off'. His father is a comic book addict and auto repairman, and has comics worth a lot of money. His mother is a nurse and coddles her children heavily.Mrs. Wallabanger: Mrs. Wallabanger is the Maxwell family's neighbor. She is also Oliver's and Max's grandmother. She has trouble hearing and she also appeared in the Dork Diaries series. She also has a Yorkshire Terrier dog named Creampuff. But I’ll let you in on a secret. Getting bombed by an angry bird is NOT cool. It’s just . . . NASTY!! I saw this title on a list of graphic novel recommendations, but it seems to be almost a cross between regular fiction and graphic.

TV, comic books, and movies make all this superhero stuff look SO easy. But it ISN’T! So don’t believe the HYPE. Some of the key points and messages I am trying to make is that there are a lot of relatable points in this story and that even though the story isn’t very realistic the concept and a lot of conflicts can be relatable if you look at them in the right way. There is a lot of tension and the book even ends with a cliffhanger. Tue book also has some satisfying moments where you get the satisfaction of beating up the bad guys. It also as a lot of funny moments to make you laugh. Okay, that FUNK-TASTIC stench I’m smelling is actually the Dumpster, not my life. But STILL . . . !

Okay, so... this book was okay. I found the actual school scenes with the burglars really interesting and super fun, yet this book was just filled with sooooo much filler content. Cleverly ending on a cliffhanger, full of brilliant illustrations and easy to follow text, this series is bound to be a hit with readers of all abilities!’ The only problem is that unless Erin and I can figure out how to get out of this STUPID Dumpster, WE might never roam free again either!! Max has an older sister named Megan, who often annoys him, a younger brother named Oliver, who has made a few minor appearances in the Dork Diaries series, and a cousin named Wilbur, whom Max often receives hand-me-down clothing from.

He was first homeschooled by his grandmother until his parents agreed to send him to a public school nearby, South Ridge Middle School.

I am also wondering why his parents don't keep a better eye out on the little brother. There were just various things that didn't make sense and just screamed bad parenting. Do I sound defensive? Did I say it is not great literature? But it is a fun read, there's a hero and his friend with whom kids can identify, and they, indeed, want to read it! Those are some of the best qualities of juvenile fiction in my book!
