The sound quality from the stereo speakers is very good, and the X55 has to be one of the loudest laptops on the market. Fortunately, it is not only loud, but also crisp and clear. Emulation and games

But after learning about the specs, it might be fair to say that the Powkiddy x55 is quite late to the party. If you want to have a navigation like in the video above, keep the “System Theme”, but in the “Theme Configuration” section, change the system view style to “Multisystem”. Once the controller is paired, navigate to the Controller Mapping section and follow the prompts to pair your bluetooth controller’s buttons. Finally, configure the settings within “P1’s Controller” and “P2’s Controller” so that the controller is assigned the right player for however you’d like to set up your play session.

Powkiddy x55 Details

Sound quality from the stereo speakers is very good, and the X55 has to be one of the loudest gaming handhelds I have heard. It’s crisp and clear, and it was so loud that I found myself having to turn it down. For the second TF card, the higher SD card is suggested such as 128GB if you prefer to load EVERY 8-bit and 16-bit game out there, all of the arcade games that work, and a large number of CD-based game files (Sega CD, PSX, Saturn, Dreamcast, and so on).

Once the controller is paired, navigate to the Controller Mapping section and follow the instructions to pair the buttons on your Bluetooth controller. Finally, configure the settings under “P1’s Controller” and “P2’s Controller” to assign the controller to the correct player as you would like to set up your gaming session.

Powkiddy x55 Specifications

Yesterday we learned about a brand new handheld emulator – the Powkiddy x55. And it’s one we didn’t even realize was in development. Now when you turn on your controller, the X55 should automatically find the controller and assign it to the appropriate player. PortMaster Here is a general list of systems that can be played on the PowKiddy X55. A more detailed list can be found here. System marked with an asterisk cannot play all games at full speed, so performance may vary.

In the System Settings section you can set your time zone, display options (e.g. saturation level) and update your JELOS firmware. I’ve been playing on a Pimax Portal lately. That thing does PS2, Game Cube, Wii, and some Switch. So the Powkiddy x55 definitely don’t add anything new to my toolbelt. It’s also the same chip in Powkiddy’s own most recent release, the RK2023. Which we be reviewing soon.Put your X55 games card in your PC, and then move that Alekfull folder to any folder on your card. I usually use the 3do folder since it’s the first one in the list and I don’t have any 3DO games on my device. Lastly, the GPU is decent enough to run various shaders, in some cases with multiple passes. I tend to play GBA with a custom shader with two passes (VBA-Color at 0.25 darkening + LCD1x). For 8 and 16 bit games, zfast-crt-standard works great. Finally, at the bottom of the Game Settings section, you can add your RetroAchievements login credentials.

Ports work fine and I’ve had success with Doom, Doom 2, Duke Nukem 3D, Sonic CD, and Sonic Mania, no issues, all running full speed. Since the 6/19 update, GZDoom works now too. I would like to see Powkiddy produce more colour variants of the X55 as whilst the blue looks really nice, it may not be everyone’s first choice. More variations provide more choice and more sale opportunities. I would also love to see a metal version of the X55 as whilst the plastics being used here are of good quality and feel nice, a metal version would definitely feel more premium. I recently bought the Powkiddy X55 and reviewed it here. Now that I've had it a for a month how is it? Great! There are two sets of hotkeys to consider: those in the main menu (EmulationStation) and those in a game (RetroArch for most systems). JELOS Keyboard Shortcut: Also within the UI Settings menu you can set the EmulationStation language, choose to swap the A and B buttons within the menu, and choose to see the frames per second (FPS) when playing games in RetroArch.

Powkiddy x55 Impressions

In the UI Settings menu, you can change your theme or configure the current theme. If you want to have a navigation setup like shown in the video above, keep the “System Theme” but in the Theme Configuration section, change the System View Style to “Multi System”. Saturn emulation is surprisingly good. Switch from whatever is the default emulator to the Yaba Sanshiro standalone for best performance. 2D games all run full speed no problem, and some 3D games as well. More intensive titles will run between 40 and 59 fps depending, but Yaba Sanshiro's frameskip makes it completely transparent feels like a smooth 60 fps with no hiccups or issues. I'd say this is totally viable for Saturn emulation. Firmware updates have improved Saturn performance and many games run full speed or extremely close to it without frameskip now.
