I also loved the fact that this was such an easily transportable toy. Being able to store everything in the compact and neat outer ball with the handle meant my daughter could carry it around and take it to her nannys or even easily take it on trips out to keep her ent ertained on journeys or holidays. If we were to do this again, I’d encourage them to use all the sand in one mould at a time, as sharing it between two moulds significantly reduced the size of their ‘bakes’. This however, is where things for me go wrong….. The kit is designed for children aged 6 years and over, but realistically it is suitable for anyone who enjoys sensory play. The studio is aimed more at the arts and craft lovers, rather than preschoolers. Personally, I would have liked to see the kit in more unisex colours as the boys felt this was a bit ‘too pink’ for their liking even though they both enjoy playing with the sand. What do you do with So Sand? The point here though is that you can get a good idea of the quality of a product by the number and type of features that are available on the product. So take the time to look at the features listed for So Sand DIY So Sand Ball Kit and it will help guide you on the quality.

The next step for us is to look at the products in the Dough and modelling toys category. In this category we found 41 product at Argos. Yes, the girls had great fun creating their own rainbow cakes – where they sensationally scented? No. Yes, the kit kept them entertained for a good couple of hours but can they use it again? No. Not unless they just want to build a bog standard sandcastle shade cake. No rainbow sand here. The sand was easy to ‘sweep’ up but rather than saving it, we’ve donated it to the pit in the garden and added the tools to our Playdoh collection. The So Sand DIY Ball Satisfying Kit comes complete with a cutting tool and sprinkles to decorate your magic sand. AD/Gifted. We were sent the So Sand Satisfying Sand Case for review purposes. So Sand DIY Satisfying Sand Studio

What’s great to see, is everything comes in the vanity box. You can open and get started straight away. Once made up the "magic" sand is easy to work with. The cleverly thought through storage accessories keep the moulds and tools organised. At first I thought "why include a plastic cup"? But once the children started to play they loved being able to use it with the hand tools to stamp out patterns on the sand. The So Sand DIY Ball Kit is quite an innovative product that will keep children entertained for ages. It is pitched for children aged 6+ and would be a lovely activity for the summer holidays. The sand does not dry out so you can keep using it for ages. ASMR stands for “Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.” It typically refers to the “tingly feeling” that travels from the head downward that some experience in response to certain sounds, feelings, or descriptions. These can include soft whispering, crinkling paper, a gentle touch or playing with sand! Assembly of the modeling station was very straightforward, only requiring the occasional glimpse at the useful instructions provided. However, making up the sand is not for the faint hearted and needs close supervision as the powder and glitter easily escape the sand when kneading. During this process (fortunately only needed the once) we all acquired glittery bits to brighten our expressions. Obviously the children particularly enjoyed this part – a chance to make a mess without getting in trouble! The instructions suggest covering surfaces before starting and I would strongly recommend this together with a tray, initially, to contain the powder and glitter.

The first thing we should say before we get really into the detail on the price, is to get you to think about a budget. Budgeting is a really key part of the buying process, as without a budget you might end up blowing a lot more money than you had planned to. So take a look at your finances and get a bit of an idea of how much you are willing to spend before you take too much time shopping around. Price If you making the sand isn’t enough for you, the So Sand DIY Satisfying Sand Case contains a selection of tools for you to roll, shape and cut your sand into all different shapes. The instruction leaflet has a number of kinetic sand serving suggestions, but why follow convention? My son started to follow a couple of the suggestions, then the urge to freestyle took over and he made all kids of fun shapes. They particularly liked to pull the sand apart really slowly and watch as it formed strings of sand and eventually collapsed. They said it looks like a bunch of snowflakes and I am inclined to agree. How to use the tools I have one of these to giveaway if you would like to enter please fill out the form below by the 3 rd of August. Our suggestion here is that you spend a bit of time looking around to see the sort of brands that are offering Dough and modelling toys and if you know you have a preference on which brand you’d buy then write yourself a list of top brands. Once you have complied your list of brands you can use this as a great way of filtering or narrowing down your search, great then there are 41 options in the Dough and modelling toys category. The So Sand Satisfying Sand Case is a handy carry case with a selection of cutting tools, bags of sand and decorations. The instructions are easy to follow, you make up your own brightly coloured kinetic sand. You can’t beat a video review. As we mentioned earlier, one of the downsides to buying online is the inability to actually see and test the product. This is where videos can really help to bridge the gap and give you an almost just as good alternative. Then mix all the glitter into the sand by kneading it like before . Then your done you can now explore all the different tools and cutting equipment that came with the set.

Or take a look at the great range of So DIY Slime Shakers, Bath Bomb Factory and DIY Tree Growing you can see how much fun we have had! Then stretch and mix in the colour . I found it to be like kneading dough . Which is actually something I enjoy doing . Once the colour is all mixed in it’s time to add the glitter bits . Ava’s was thrilled by this bit as she’s loves glitter. In summary – ‘Undeniable fun that kept the kids engrossed for a few hours – but it’s at a cost when the product you’ve bought into and the kids have made, can’t be recreated.’ It came with a wide variety of different tools that they could use to cut, scoop and manipulate the sand with.

The first factor that you can look at is the brand. Often we can get a really good understanding of the quality of toys and other gadgets by just looking at the brand. There are some brands that are really well known for great quality, whilst others might be better known for value.(and some are known to be poor in both areas). If the price appears to be significantly lower than you’d expect for the sort of product you’re buying, then you’d be wise to start looking in a bit more detail at other indicators of the quality. Alby started by using using the cutting tool to slice through his sand . This product is aimed children 6 plus. With supervision thought both of mine were able to explore and enjoy all the different parts of it. The only thing they found hard was securing the cutter into the studio. The whole idea of the products is the Magic Sand. If you haven’t seen or heard of this before then it is a sand based product which holds its shape and can be moulded or cut. It can be squeezed through your hands and feels oddly satisfying. Its like wet sand but without the mess! This is what creates the ASMR, being able to do things that you didn’t think possible and allowing your child to create and shape whatever they can think of. Our Experience… Next up is the material. Take a look at what So Sand DIY So Sand Ball Kit is made from. Often you can spot the quality of the product based on the materials used to make it, with some obvious signs of a cheaper product with certain types of material. With some toys this will be more important than others. So you’ll already have a good idea of whether the material is actually a big deal or not when buying Dough and modelling toys.We opened the white sand, and then poured the yellow colour on and kneaded these together to create the white sand to be all yellow. Some brands are better known for delivering great quality, and as you’re on our So Sand DIY So Sand Ball Kit review you’re probably already well aware of how good quality So Sand DIY Dough and modelling toys are. Quality, as you’d imagine is one of the most important considerations for buying any products. This is especially true for Dough and modelling toys.
