About this deal

Its small size and light weight make the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro Lens a non-burden to take with you.

Oh... And the push-pull AF/MF selector is very neat. AF is farily fast on my D70. Faster than I though it would be. I've used it so catch flying birds with good results. Objects are reproduced faithfully without any distortion. If there's anything bad to say about this lens, it's that the corners and sides are noticeably dim at f/2.8 and f/4. At f/2.8, the corners lag behind the center by 3.2 stops (-3.2EV), and sides by 2.2 stops. Narrowing the aperture to f/4 improves things—corners show -1.4EV and sides -0.7EV. At f/5.6 and beyond illumination at the periphery is almost even with the center.Unfortunately, macro lenses also include a few rather steep downsides which cannot be ignored when evaluating whether they will be your next portrait lens. Macro Lenses are Darker All of these macro lenses are super-sharp and free from distortion. Any half-decent macro lens is extraordinary for use as a normal or telephoto lens for general photography —but here I'm discussing which lenses are best for serious macro shooting. The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens is - as you can discern from the name - Sigma's entry in the fixed short-telephoto focal length macro lens category.

SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Model A041): All serial numbers compatible, EOS R5 and R6 from firmware 2.0 The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 is a very good macro lens for the price. It is a very sharp lens and does what it's supposed to do, good color, contrast and excellent sharpness. The build quality is decent, although I am worried about the long term life of the mechanism used to switch focusing mode from auto to manual. Price: around 800 EUR new (incl. 19% VAT) but I’ve already seen a street prices below that. It’s predecessor currently goes for 400 EUR. So this looks like a huge mark-up over its predecessor for an improved image stabilization, although in some regions the pricing is lower for the new model. The Nikon 105/2.8 can be had for 800 EUR. [-] The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 also does very well in terms of Chromatic Aberration, with low to moderate maximum CA and low average CA.The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro Lens is available in Canon (reviewed), Nikon, Sony/Maxxum and Pentax/Samsung mounts. Second, there is the risk of a problem that results in the lens and body manufacturers pointing blame at each other. To underscore how good this lens is, I later upgraded to the Nikon 105/2.8 AF-S VR. The Nikon is a fine lens and has its own unique advantages but I was surprised to find that the Tamron out performed the Nikon at every aperture regarding sharpness, especially wide open f2.8. I planned to sell the Tamron to cover the cost of the Nikon upgrade but after a year, I still have the Tamron. Considering how little I have in the lens, doubt that I will ever sell it. It is that good. To find out how it performed I tested the Tamron SP 90mm f2.8 Macro VC ii on Nikon’s 36MP D810 and compared the results against Nikon’s own AF-S 105mm f/2.8G ED Micro Nikkor and the predecessor from Tamron model F004.
