As you can see, that same brotherly banter and gentle ribbing are there, but that’s only part of what I adore about these books. Seeing Lucian’s reaction and how he tries to ignore it when Sloane is brought up, I’m swooning. There is something so comforting and fun about this series so I honestly can’t wait for September.

Finally reading Lucian and Sloane’s story in Things We Left Behind! Things We Left Behind: My Review Admittedly it was drawn out, less in some cases is best, it was a bit messy in others, but it still didn't take away my love for this book/this series. This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and to say it was a disappointment is taking it lightly. As for the 2 main characters - Sloane (heroine) came across too meek and not as she was portrayed in the previous books. Understandably the loss of Sloane's father added to her frame of mind, but there's more to it than that.

I’ve been waiting for this book… ever since TWNGO came out, I became extra invested in whatever the h happened between Lucian and Sloane to create so much tension and animosity… I have around 10% left yet can’t be asked to finish so I guess that sums up how I feel about this book. Maybe I was building up their relationship and feelings for one another in the past as more than they actually were but I can’t believe they let things fester for so long. This series is where I discovered this author!! This was the book we've all been eagerly waiting for, I couldn't wait to dive in and absorb all those feels this authors known to throw and this book was no different, those mushy feels, the giggles galore, and those stabby angsty jabs came at me full force. I think the aspect that really kept me from rating it higher is the ultimate reason for Sloane and Lucian to be at odds with one another for OVER TWENTY YEARS. I mean, these are smart individuals with self-awareness, and yes, the incident that happened was very important but they couldn’t have a conversation about it or work it through in twenty years? Sloane Walton is a spitfire determined to carry on her father’s quest for justice. She’ll do that just as soon as she figures out exactly what the man she hates did to—or for—her family. The angst literally broke me in so many different ways!! It was heart breaking and had me literally crying so many times it’s not even normal anymore!!! These two broke and healed my heart at least 381973283 times!! SUIT DADDY. i loved that the polished and pristine lucian rollins reduced himself to a pair a tight pink sweatpants and a raggedy sweatshirt just to stay close to sloane.

Well, this book did not disappoint!! Hands down, it's the best one of the series and I loved the first two. I have been anticipating Lucian and Sloanes story since book 1 and I am so happy to report that it really delivered for me! Lucy Score just does it for me, I love her writing style, her humor and no one does found family like her, which is one of my favorite things ever and this book was no exception. The banter and the chemistry were WHITE HOT! And the epilogue and the extended epilogue was like a present wrapped up in a bow for those of us that have followed this series from the beginning. Let me know if there’s anything she needs,” I said, automatically distancing myself from the responsibility of looking after her. Broken men break women. It's what Lucian believes, what he's witnessed, and he's not going to take that chance with Sloane. He'd rather live a life of solitude than put her in danger. But he learns the hard way that leaving her means leaving her unprotected from other threats. My review is going to be biased because I’ve loved this entire series since I first started it over a year and a half ago. In the meantime, they’re still dealing with the Anthony Hugo situation (the overarching plot from the previous two books) and all that entails, including helping a woman that was given an excessive prison sentence.

I loved seeing all the other characters from the previous books and the found family connection that they all have. I thought the past pov’s were done well, few and moved the plot well. We find out why Lucian and Sloane ‘hate’ each other and it was understandable. The smut in this was good I was eating up the I hate you but I love sleeping with you sexy time up. There’s also a mystery/suspense plot that maybe wasn’t necessary but was a vibe nonetheless. My only minor issue is that this book is very long but I still ate it up.

So all in all, I cannot in good conscience give THE THINGS WE LEFT BEHIND a higher rating than an average of 3 stars. now the part of the storyline that i absolutely loved was how Sloane’s parents played the role of substitute parents in Luce’s life. how they were so close, sharing an unmatched complicity even after all what happened between the protagonists and the little cold war they were so inclined to perdure. Knox shook his head. “It’s a tough loss. She held up today after Luce here force fed her a burrito.” Sloane Walton: A fiery and determined small-town librarian, Sloane is on a quest for justice and carries the weight of a dark secret. Her strong-willed personality and deep-seated dislike for Lucian create a dynamic and tension-filled relationship. Storyline This was everything I hoped Lucian & Sloane’s book would be AND MORE 😭😭😭😭😭 the build up for their story was so worth it!!!! It’s one of my top 5 books of the year, if not my favorite. It was so freaking good I can’t even explain it. My heart fluttered. I laughed my ass off. I teared up & cried. I felt alllllll the tingles & my lord was it spicier than I expected. Honestly this book was IT.

Hobbies

Lucy put the A in Angst with this one, the ping pong of heated barbs thrown at the other was neerending. They couldn't even stand to be in the same room with each other. As I said previously, it did not live up to my expectations. The book dragged on and there was too much emphasis put on the characters in the previous books, making it waaaay longer than necessary. I can honestly say that there are entire chapters in this book that could have been removed completely. Lucian Rollins is a lean, mean vengeance-seeking mogul. On a quest to erase his father’s mark on the family name, he spends every waking minute pulling strings and building an indestructible empire. The more money and power he amasses, the safer he is from threats.
