Choosing where – or more accurately, when– you go to is as easy as choosing a card from the central market and adding it to your splayed collection of cards. That on its own would be pretty dull, so instead the game offers you these cool plastic experience tokens for taking cards. Some come from the card you choose, and others from the slot you took it from in the market. The tokens fill in spaces on your Itinerary sheets, which get swapped out after each day (round) is complete. Fill in the correct spots on your itinerary sheets to get points and time crystals. Don’t feel bad if you don’t want to do anything extra – adding historical board games to your homeschooling doesn’t have to be complicated! And bonus – I can count play time easily towards our homeschool hours! When a card is chosen, the player gains the souvenirs on the card and the bonus on that card’s space. These souvenirs are then added to your personal itinerary board. The game comes with a number of unique itinerary boards requiring a pattern of itinerary tokens to fill in sets earning players points and bonuses. It was neat to see their brains turning as they figured out different ways to strategize, and overall, we really loved playing Trekking Through History.
