Description

The simplest DIY dog bed is a huge pillow, which you can make by cutting two large rectangles of fabric and sewing them together on three sides. One or two old fleece blankets make a great recycled cushion. Before stitching up the fourth side, choose a stuffing that will be safe and comfortable for your dog. Stuffing Options for a Homemade Dog Bed There are a number of different styles and colours for you to compare that will be able to suit any dog, and each of them is available in a range of prices so that you won’t end up breaking the bank and will end up with the best price possible. The perfect and most comfortable bed is just waiting for your pooch. Is the dog bed in the corner looking a little chewed and lumpy lately? While you could buy a new dog bed, why not make your own? A homemade dog bed is a great way to show your favorite dog just how much you love him — and save some money too! Plus, you can get creative by upcycling everything from old furniture to T-shirts to make the perfect bed for the perfect pooch. What do we mean when we say indestructible? While no bed is completely indestructible, our collection of chew-proof bedding for dogs is designed with durability and dependability in mind. Using tear-resistant materials, we’ll give even the most persistent chewers a run for their money and keep any mess to a minimum.

There were so many dog beds here! Some looked easy to put together and some are more involved projects. From what Amarildo’s accomplished so far, it’s clear he loves what he does quite a lot—and that’s great news for every one of the animals he’s helped. A simple wooden crate, recycled or available at any craft store, also makes a perfect pint-sized nest. Carefully pry the boards from one of the long sides off of the crate and sand the rough edges. Paint the crate and personalize it with your dog's name or a fun design, and line it with a soft folded blanket or pillow. HGTV Handmade also recommends screwing furniture gliders onto the bottom corners to protect your floors. Just like anything you give to your dog, make sure the paint, decorations, and lining are non-toxic to pets and not easily chewed or ingested. When it comes to wet versus dry food, though, there can be benefits to both. Dogs with dental issues may find wet food easier to eat, but the texture in kibble can help fight plaque and tartar buildup on your pup’s teeth. The pet nutrition pros at Pedigree remind owners that there is no one right answer. When in doubt, ask your vet! Here’s a couch that took at least eleven tires to put together. Here’s one bit of furniture you won’t mind too much sharing with Fido.an old tire ( just visit Discount Tire; they’d be happy to find an old tire for you and have you recycle it!) With this project, you’ll make a large pillowcase for a comfy, canine-friendly mattress. Instead of investing in expensive craft foam, this artsy pet parent bought one twin extra-large memory foam mattress topper and folded it in half. For the fabric cover, use an outdoor material that can withstand some wear and tear from your pet. Simple straight sewing is all you’ll need to do to stitch two pieces together into a rectangular pillowcase. When stitching up the last side of the cover, you can sew on a zipper to make washing and refluffing easy. When you’re ready, just stuff in the mattress pad, and you’re good to go. Woven nylon dog bed

Some people think that chevrons are serious but this tessellation of pastel-colored chevrons rimmed by periwinkle is cute, sweet, and fun. This sweet little Yorkie looks like she’s the center of the sweetest bon bon of them all! Unfortunately, doggies can’t have chocolate. If you’re good with a sewing machine and want something out of the ordinary, here’s the bed for you!Do you have an old dresser that's taking up space in an attic or basement? Project DIY suggests giving it new life as a retreat for your dog! Start by removing the drawers and cutting out the front frame of the dresser. You should also remove any sharp nails, hardware, or bits of plastic or wood from the inside. These circular beds look like Smarties, the candies that teachers sometimes would give their smart and well-behaved students. (Of course, I got lots of them.) Aromatic wood chips can absorb some stinky dog odor but may create a big mess if your pet decides to chew up his new bed. You will also need a fabric strong enough to encase the chips, so that none of them poke through and make it uncomfortable for your dog to use the bed. A bed pillow can be the simplest filling, with the added benefit that it's easy to clean. Like people, dogs might prefer a certain type of pillow, so keep experimenting until you find the one your dog seems to like the most.

Once it’s dry, set the tire up on its edge and lightly spray the tire with spray paint, holding the can about 8 inches away from the tire. Because I couldn’t paint all sides of the tire at once, I did four “painting sessions” for this tire. I did one coat on the top half of the tire, then, once the paint had dried, I rotated the tire and painted the “bottom” half. Then after the first coat was dry, I did a second coat on the top half of the tire, then rotated again to do a second coat on the bottom half. Here are two tire beds. One is in baby pink and one is in baby blue. Just in case you have a Fido and a Fifi! His ecofriendly upcycling has not only given comfort to thousands of cats and dogs but prevented rubber tires from being consigned to a toxic spewing fire. The guys at the Discount Tire store I went to were super helpful! I told them what I had planned for the tire and they made sure to find one with really good tread to make the outside more interesting after it was painted! Dogs come in many sizes, so start by measuring your pup's old bed to see how much space he needs to be comfortable. You can also observe his favorite ways and spaces to relax. Do you have a giant husky who sleeps curled up in a tiny ball? He may like a cozier den. Does your beagle spread-eagle? He may need a bigger cushion than you thought.

No longer will you be running out every week or so to buy a flimsy dog bed, only for it to be shredded all over again. Many people think of a dog house as a miniature wooden Cape Cod with the dog’s name just over the door. Fosse and Gershwin might have names that are Broadway-inspired but their bed looks more like Southwestern Native inspired. As your dog gets older, you'll need to make some changes to your home and routine to keep them feeling their best. That includes changing their dog food, too!
