It felt a bit like this book was written in many different parts and then pieced together, and I'm not sure all the scenes "really happened" or were necessary to the plot- although the plot of this book is almost impossible to explain. And plot isn't the point, the interior journey of the hero is the point. I also think I lost some nuances because it's been too long since I've read the previous books in the series- it would be good to reread them before getting into this book, hardly an onerous chore with Stover books.
