Description

The hardware is attractive and seems to be full-featured; the firmware is highly configurable and has a very comprehensive and fast UI. To date it's been far less troublesome than the mesh solution it replaces, with one significant fault: A Samsung Tab 8 Plus cannot connect to any ET12 child node on the 6GHz band. It can connect to the parent node, however. And other users have reported issues with certain Samsung devices besides just the tablets. Getting connected: Dual-WAN vs Link Aggregation | Dual-band vs Tri-band vs Quad-band | Fiber-optic vs Cable | Getting your home wired | Multi-Gig explained | Cable modem activation | Routers explained | Mesh explained The ZenWiFi Pro ET12 is a new Tri-band router— all of its bands are needed to host 2.4GHz, 5Ghz, and 6GHz clients.

Connect your router’s WAN port to the Internet source, be it a modem, an existing gateway, or the Fiberoptic ONT. Turn it on.On 6GHZ, speeds were generally high and in line with some of the best mesh systems I’ve tested in this location, such as the remarkable Orbi RKBE963 system. If you’re looking for 6GHz Wi-Fi to transform your Wi-Fi experience, it’s not so straightforward. It’s worth noting that having the same number of streams doesn’t mean the routers are of the same hardware specs. That depends on their bands and Wi-Fi standards. I have a few questions if you don’t mind, the first I don’t believe was touched on as much. I read through this post and your post on wired AI mesh setup.

The router also makes difficulties for legacy 2.4GHz switches and IoT stuff. I cannot cannot connect any of the more than 40 switches/sensors that I have without complicated and unreliable "workarounds".

From the Manufacturer

QoS: How Quality of Service betters your online experience The ZenWiFi Pro ET12’s QoS feature is similar to most other Asus routers. The ZenWiFi Pro XT12 is a traditional Tri-band with an additional 5GHz band (the 5GHz-2). So it has 2.4GHz and two 5GHz bands (5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2). The 2.4GHz band offers excellent range and broad compatibility, and the 5GHz band provides higher performance, but both are increasingly crowded with devices and can be prone to interference. The WiFi 6 technologies on the ZenWiFi Pro XT12 can alleviate congestion when it’s managing a network of compatible WiFi 6 devices. Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) allows the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously by dividing slices of the frequency spectrum into sub-channels. OFDMA is complemented by multi-user, multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO), which uses multiple transmit and receive antennas so that the router can talk to many devices at the same time.
