If you choose to play by Kingdom building, hopefully this article will help you decide which race to focus on (or if this is a game you want to explore further). What terrain types you choose for your Kingdom dictates what units you can field in your army. If you lose those lands in a campaign game (more on that later), then you can still recruit the troop type from that land but they take a small penalty in their activation value (moral). Lets assume, that all of my tips will prove to be true, whatwill be still missing? Here is a list of the units (so no characters, no monsters, no artillery) from the books, which would be still needed: If you choose to play a single game where you each select a single race, this post will give you a good idea to expect from each army. In this post, we are going to take a look at the armies of Oathmark as presented in the core rule book of the game. As a note, s pecial thanks goes out to Osprey Games for sending me a copy of the rules for review. Two Ways to Play…

The artwork is equally cool! I can’t wait to see more. The Artwork for the Oathmark Heavy Dwarves Plastic Miniatures Box Set. Wrapping it up… Ghoul: Well, I dont see any feasible combination with other unit types here, and a separate set, just for Ghouls is unlikely. Maybe a smaller box, if there ever be smaller boxes. In my opinion, the most likely here, is a cooperation with Mantic, as by the Frostgrave Undead Encounters set. Inside the rulebook, players are encouraged to play in one of two ways. The first way is for each player to choose one race from the book and keep their army selections to just that race. The second way is by creating a Kingdom. The Kingdom method allows you to build your own allowable units for the game. Which regions you choose to house in your Kingdom define which units you can hire in your army. The Battle for Skull Pass boxset contains approx 500pts of Dwarves. I wanted to double that as cheaply and efficiently as possible. In doing so, I also wanted to satisfy my appetite for proxies. For those that don’t know, the Kingdoms in the core rule book include Dwarf, Human, Elf and Orc/Goblin.As you get deeper into the hobby, you may want to upgrade your terrain by either making your own (there are loads of how-to videos online) or by purchasing some of the amazing offerings available from a variety of scenery manufacturers. You can likely find a good selection of scenery available wherever you buy your Oathmark miniatures. Dice Every Oathmark figure comes with a plastic base; in the case of human-sized models, this is a 25 x 25mm square. Larger figures may have larger bases. It is important to mount your figures on the appropriate-sized base, as this represents how much area that figure takes up and controls on the battlefield and affects how the figure moves and fights, especially when it is part of a unit. The base size of every creature in this book is listed in its description. Now, the rules are yet to come, but my summary post of the models so far for Oathmark remains to be one of my most popular posts on Must Contain Minis. Four boxes are currently released with this fifth one on the way.

It is necessary to accurately measure distances when determining how far a unit can move or the range of a missile weapon. All distances in Oathmark are given in Imperial measurements, so you need a ruler or tape measure marked with inches and feet. Players can measure distances at any time during a game. Kingdom and Army Sheets Revenant cavalry: If a separate set, it has the same issues, as the Human Heavy Cavalry. But what if they combine it with the Revenant Chariot? I think, thats the way to go! So here’s what you get out of the box: lots! There are swords, there are axes and there are hammers. There’s also standard bearer and musician pieces, shields, one handed weapons and great weapons. And then there’s heads: 14 per sprue both helmeted and uncovered. There are an excess of accessories to add to your bit box.

The Dwarfs in Oathmark have the best overall defense values and the second-best activation (and moral) values in the game. They happen to also be the slowest army in the game and none of their units can take mounts of any kind. Available Units Osprey Games and North Star Military Figures have now released their newest Mass Combat Fantasy System – Oathmark. In it, you build a Kingdom and wage wars against your neighbors. There are four core races in the book (Dwarf, Human, Elf, and Goblin/Orc). Those races all get along within a Kingdom but will fight for their lords against neighboring kingdoms. How will you build your Kingdom? That said, I don’t think there would be any issue if you buy the terrain element of the race that allows you the unit and field a human model (but using all of the elf stats and special rules). In fact, the rules allow you to build out your Kingdom like this so you can get the units you want. Why not go with a proxy and use the models you want too? Wrapping it up… Human heavy cavalry: will be included in the Human Cavalry box (although I dont see any heavy cavalry on the possible box art), or will it became a separate set? If a separate set, will it be the same size as the former ones, or its time for smaller boxes (because 15 Human Heavy Cavalry is a really huge and expensive force)? Or maybe some metal/resin casts with separate horses and riders, maybe separate hands+weapons to combine?
