The character of Beatrice. I couldn't get to grips with her personality. At several points she describes herself as if she is introverted; she's afraid of confrontation, shies away from large groups of people, is anxious around attractive men etc; she seems to paint herself as a rather unremarkable, at times even timid person, yet she's also supposed to be a partner at a New York marketing firm at the age of 26. This didn't ring true for me and I didn't see why Beatrice had to have a high-flying job or be living in New York for the story to work. The location of the bench it is believed that Ms Bulley left her mobile phone on before she vanished on Friday. We ask for anyone who thinks they may have any information that may help the police find Nicola to please come forward and help them with their inquiries."

I loved this book. Another reviewer described it as a "crime fiction novel for people who don't like crime fiction" and I agree with that description. I've read a few crime fiction novels and really enjoyed them (e.g. the Millenium trilogy) but it can be a difficult genre to get right. I always feel overwhelmed when entering the crime section of a bookstore or library, faced with hundreds of books that look and sound the same. However, Sister stood out to me because it has a beautiful cover and not one you would associated with a crime investigation. It's serene as opposed to bold and bloody. I would have assumed it was more of a family drama novel and I believe this novel bridges the gap between the two genres. If you like your stories fast-paced, full of dangers and conflicts and impossible situations, then you will love this book. Lauren and the others endure all manner of perils and threats, and the plot twists and turns like a helter-skelter. Characters turn out to be not what they seemed, and you never know from one chapter to the next who will suddenly change sides and betray or help. There is time, however, for ample exploration of Lauren's state of mind, particularly her guilt at not protecting Madison from harm and her despair as the whole horrible nightmare starts again.

This was a pretty good mystery/thriller. Beatrice has always been close to her sister Tess, but after moving to the States they grow more distant. So when Beatrice gets a call from her mother to say that Tess has gone missing, she jumps on the first flight home to London. This remains a missing person inquiry and at this time there is nothing to suggest any third-party involvement in Nicola’s disappearance. Perhaps a bit of a minor point, but Tess's body lies undiscovered in a Hyde Park toilet for five days...? Is it really plausible that nobody would have gone into the building in all that time, especially since a young girl was missing from the local area and the case was being publicised heavily? It's two years after the events of Girl, Missing and life is not getting any easier for sixteen-year-old Lauren – exam pressure and a recent family heartbreak have taken their toll. Tess' family and the police close the case as suicide and try to move on with their lives, coming to terms with some revelations and self questioning, however, Bea takes it upon herself to discover the real truth. Single-minded in her search for a killer, Bea moves into Tess’s apartment, and into her life (including wearing her clothes) and throws herself headlong into finding her sister’s murderer. Everyone thinks she is mad (which quite frankly she probably is), but Bea knows her sister would never have killed herself voluntarily, even under incredible tragic circumstances.

In doing so, they will slowly unearth a story of love, strength and sacrifice that began almost one hundred years ago, as other brave young women risked everything to change the world around them . . . As Madison gets drawn into a mysterious investigation involving missing girls and secret hideaways, she finds herself embroiled in more and more danger. . .This book is a direct follow-on from 'Girl, Missing' which is set two years in the past, and features many of the same characters. Although reading the earlier book first will give a clear context for this one, it is quite possible to enjoy this as a stand-alone. There are plenty of references to the previous story to explain relationships between the main characters, often in the form of heated and angry exchanges which clearly show that achieving a goal is not necessarily the end of the story in such situations. Indeed, the most intriguing part of this whole book is the examination of how Lauren and her two families cope after the police and the newspapers have gone. In the midst of all the danger and drama, Lauren finds herself worrying about the future of her relationship with Jam, and the ever-present sullenness and anger from Shelby reminds her at every turn that she is not as welcome in her own family as she had dreamed she would be.

I said we better go now and Nicola came to the front door, and I gave her a kiss and told her I loved her and that was the last conversation I had with her." Her dad said there was 'no sign' of her having fallen in the river. Ernest said: "There was no sign of a slip or falling in so our thought was 'has somebody got her'? An officer could be seen standing guard on the bank as teams searched the river with an underwater camera. He told the Mirror he was struggling to be in the same room as his granddaughters, aged six and nine, as they ask: “Where mummy is, and when is mummy coming home?”

It comes after it emerged Nicola's daughters heard the devastating news their mum had gone missing when their dad told them “mummy’s lost.” We are really grateful for the community’s help and co-operation so far, but I’d like to stress again parts of the riverbank are treacherous, especially after the recent rain, and we would ask that nobody puts themselves in danger and that the police and partner agencies’ efforts to find Nicola are not compromised.

The family of a Sussex woman, missing for almost a week, say they can't give up hope of finding her alive. A search of the area involving police specialist resources, the Coastguard and Bowland Mountain Rescue is continuing. "Bit spooky too!". We didn’t go into the house, as a volunteer search and rescue team we don’t actually go into buildings. We might go into a barn or something. We leave that to the police.Talking about their last conversation, her dad said: “"She had done her work and she was very upbeat about getting her mortgage sorted. She went missing last Friday morning, with her mobile phone found on a bench near to where she was last seen on a towpath by the River Wyre in St Michael's on Wyre, Lancashire. Earlier on Tuesday, Lancashire Police had appealed to find a witness who was believed to have been in the area at the time mother-of-two Nicola Bulley, 45, was last seen. Three Hours was chosen by the Times as their thriller of the year. The Sunday Times called Three Hours 'a brilliant literary thriller...reminiscent of both Greek tragedy and Shakespeare’
