When the police show up at the station instead of Liam, Jude realizes that she knows nothing about the man he’s become. Now she’s tangled up in his life, the last person to have seen him, and maybe the only one who can uncover the truth about what went wrong—even if she destroys her own life in the process. if you’re an asshole to other people just because someone was an asshole to you, how is that any better? This book’s plot absolutely resembles Strangers on a train meets Girl on the train with additional domestic abuse and psychological thriller elements. Jude agrees. She goes along with his plan without asking too many questions, and without telling her fiancé. She follows Liam’s instructions, and waits. And then the police turn up, telling her that Liam has been found dead, in London. Why does Jude have his car, his bag, his wallet, his mobile phone, in a cottage in Norfolk? Jude’s explanation doesn’t really satisfy DI Leila Fox.

A note about Crude: I didn't consider this a crude story, but some of their sexy times include terms in, um, the vernacular. If you're particularly sensitive to crude language, that may be enough. I didn't think it was, but I'll admit I'm not a great gauge for that aspect of stories. At any rate, none of it was degrading or belittling, for all of the note below, so be reassured if that was a suspicion or concern. Dane has all the respect for Vienna you could hope for and that is always at the forefront of his interactions with her, even in his head. Since Nicci French’s engrossing Frieda Klein series, I’ve found their standalone novels a little more unpredictable quality-wise. ‘The Favour’ begins promisingly. Junior doctor Jude is on the cusp of marriage; after a night shift she finds that Liam, her ‘bad boy’ first boyfriend, whom she hasn’t seen since she left school, is waiting for her to ask a favour – and a very strange favour it is too. Jude accepts and, from then on, her predictable safe life becomes anything but.

I always seem to have an unpopular opinion, but this time it's because I seemed to enjoy the book more than the other reviewers. Then, out of the blue, after an absence of eleven years, her first serious boyfriend, Liam Birch turns up to meet her with a strange request. He wants her to drive up to a remote cottage on the Norfolk coast, using his car and paying with his credit card, and then wait for him to arrive by train the following evening. For some reason we are not initially aware of, Jude agrees to this suspicious proposition. Out on their first date, she's like I book the restaurant for all your other dates, how come you've never brought one here. And he goes well I had to bring you someplace different so everyone would know you're not just a companion for the evening.....so he took all his ONS to particular restaurants ANYWAYS, lils was right, i did like how the exes were trying so hard to break them up. that was hilarious. especially because it failed so miserably.

I enjoyed the narrators and enjoyed the detective in this book. I thought his narrator did a great job. ok so there's Dane's brothers and their wives, Vienna's ex, Vienna's foster sister, all wanting to sabotage their marriage and try to come up with ways for them to divorce/break up.Both are intelligent, educated, accomplished women, who have SOMEHOW lost their sense of self worth after getting married. As Jude gets herself more and more enmeshed in what was Liam’s bohemian life, do her choices stretch the bounds of credibility? Most decidedly. But, a bit like a train crash, it’s hard to look away. The police put forward several theories, none of which satisfy Jude, and make even more accusations. But it is the final theory that is the most chilling and absolutely feasible. Now for the hero. Dane is very cold, aloof, calm but cutting at times. You do not get his POV in this so I was left guessing about his intentions from the very beginning. I actually really liked to trying to figure out when things changed for him with Vienna or if he had a plan from the very start.

Vienna Stratton was a charming heroine. She's level-headed, mature and doesn't let her past weigh her down. Although she had a difficult upbringing, she still manages to be the better person in all situations. She's also hard-working, ambitious and very loyal! I loved her snarkiness and the occasional sarcastic comments she made. She's definitely not as sarcastic and OTT as SW's other heroines, which I appreciated. Vienna is genuinely a good person and thinks beyond herself. And Dane is just so cold man ugh....I do like his possessive behavior even though that too is OTT....like beating people up just goes away lordt Vienna was such a smart, badass, sarcastic, and wise heroine. Finally i found a heroine that didn’t react impulsively through her emotions and took some time to think rationally and try to see reason 👏🏻 She was also an emotionally relatable character to me and i love her for that.In this twisty new stand-alone novel from internationally bestselling author Nicci French, a young woman agrees to do a favor for an estranged former boyfriend—but when things go horribly wrong, one small task turns into a murder investigation that completely upends her life, ensnaring her in a deadly web of secrets and lies. The Favor was filmed in 1990, [2] but went into wide release in the United States and Canada on April 29, 1994, owing to Orion's bankruptcy in 1991. [3] It was released to home video on the DVD format for Region 1 on December 29, 2001, through MGM Home Entertainment. [3] Reception [ edit ] Hanna and Ashley: I love Vienna’s friends. I didn’t like when one of them would say Dane was psychopath. He definitely wasn’t. Dane was very protective of Vienna.
