The true villain of Doctor Who’s Season 13 is the editing and pacing. Which could have been solved by dropping a lot of unnecessary characters and plot lines. If the Grand Serpent, Bel, Vinder, and Kate weren’t included, it could have let other stories and characters develop at a much more even cadence. Instead, Bel and Vinder get a huge focus, only for their story to conclude in a poor manner. One of the most powerful scenes was about the life on board the Tardis we presumably won’t ever see, as imprisoned together on the Sontaran ship, it slowly dawned on the Doctor that Karvanista used to be her companion and that she had broken his heart. They must have gone through many scenarios just like that which she can’t remember. There’s a spin-off waiting for Jo Martin (the Fugitive Doctor) and Craige Els’ adorably grumpy space-dog character as her companion out there somewhere. Mysteries and questions

On the Division spacecraft, Azure attempts to return the Doctor's missing memories to her using the fob watch. The Doctor refuses to see them. Azure reveals her intent to engineer the Flux into a time loop of universal destruction. The Ood attempts to slow down the Flux.Malika “Boog” Wilson and her best friends have grown up idolising the Vanquishers, a group of heroic vampire hunters who wiped out the last horde of the undead decades ago. Nowadays, most people don't take even the most basic vampire precautions - the days of garlic wreaths and early curfews are long gone - but Boog's parents still follow the old rules, much to her embarrassment. Set 9.5 is bringing a few new traits into the game, and Vanquisher is the new class that is semi replacing Deadeye. Vanquisher is also quite unique as there are two 4-cost carries in the Vanquisher trait. There are so many things left unexplained; Was the universe restored after Passenger absorbed the Flux? Is Time the personification of time itself? Why did it let the Doctor go? Why did Azure appear human in the premiere? Who was the man she was with? Is Tecteun’s ship still floating in the space between universes? What’s going to happen to the decompressed data stored on it? Is the TARDIS still damaged? And those are just the major questions. All of these unanswered elements would be fine if it wasn’t the finale. It was really fun trying to work out the series mystery in previous episodes, but to be left with so many questions after the Flux conclusion is disappointing. However, even with the allies safe, some of the Flux begins to make it past the shield, so the two Doctors, inspired by an idea from Diane, use the infinite matter within the Passenger form to absorb the Flux remnants and save the universe. This Emblem can make its way into a lot of different comps, so I don’t expect things to be solved early on. As more patches happen, Vanquishers may come and go, but having the knowledge to be ready at any time is important when you want to climb.

For a series that threatened to answer so many questions and provide so many reveals, as an episode, The Vanquishers just … didn’t. Bel and Vinder weren’t revealed to be anybody important’s parents. We never saw any of the Doctor’s former lives. Nobody was the Rani in disguise. And Annabel Scholey’s Claire – to my great chagrin – may have made a welcome return and been a brilliant psychic, pivotal to the Sontarans’ plans, but was not revealed to be anybody who would permanently join the Tardis crew.
