after getting my pure malt creation, there is a difference to me in the opening, a sweeter version perhaps? still has the dna of the original. trying it on the top of my wrist and the original on the other. The original is still a remarkable fragrance and creation is so very close to me. It does seem to have a little better longevity but not overwhelmingly so. Better projection at first. I really believe those who have pure malt and love it like I do, I say don't think there is any reason to dump your bottle for this one. I still have half of my original left and now have this. I have not tried it in the office yet. I think I need some more time with it to really define if there are distinct differences or do I want there to be?.. Overall it is a great fragrance bearing the same fragrant beauty as the USA version I have with perhaps a sweeter overall aroma. It seems to me that this is somehow "richer", and more refined and more complex than the original Pure Malt, yet I can't quite put my finger on why I prefer the newer frag. Pure Malt opens with a rich, sweet, cozy, powerful, boozy accord. It’s intense but pleasant; it’s playful yet sophisticated. Imagine being well dressed, eating desserts and drinking beer and whiskey at a fancy brewery, laughing and having a good time with your friends around holiday season, that’s what Pure Malt smells like. The sweetness here is a mixture of burnt caramel, dried fruits, honey, and of course malt. I learned from youtuber Redolessence that this fragrance contains ethyl maltol, which is responsible for creating this malt + caramel feel. The sweetness is slightly synthetic but it smells so delicious I don’t really care. The original A*Men DNA is still present but the harshness and patchouli are toned down quite significantly. The end game seems similar to original A*Men. Pure Malt winds up confectionary-like because of the dominant vanilla. Sniffing my wrist after seven or eight hours I smell toffee, though I'm surprised to discover some residual patchouli lingers at this very late stage. I'd be rating Pure Malt appreciably higher had the whiskey and peat notes properly lasted into the dry down and blunted the potent vanilla.

The new limited edition range ‘Liqueur de Parfum’ is subtly different. The A*Men Pure Malt 2013 is a fusion of A*Men and the world of fine spirits, made possible by a patented method inspired by traditional techniques used to produce the finest Whiskies. The fragrance is aged in toasted American oak casks to reveal a smoky fragrance that is subtly peaty. That's 'cause my ex-boyfriend was wearing it. It is sophisticated, elegant and universally appealing, wearable in almost any scenario of modern life, has better longevity and silage than its predecessor, and as so many others have noted, I can't stop smelling my wrist whenever I'm wearing it.If you ignore the brand, you could also use the smell as an indicator for a niche scent. One often reads of characteristics such as exclusivity, eccentricity and complexity. Pure Malt is exclusive in its own way: very rarely have I seen him in a shop. Whether he's been hired or not, I don't know. I had to get my impressions from bottlings. Thanks again to Parfumo for this opportunity and my financial ruin. A*Men Ultimate is a reasonably pleasant perfume. It only has a fairly intimate projection and it lasts for about nine or ten hours on me. I don't propose to judge it in relation to the rest of the A*Men flankers or the original itself but simply to judge it on its own merits. Maybe it was because I'm fairly new to fragrance collecting and my nose had never smelled anything so bold as a Pure Malt before and didn't know what to think, but it clearly didn't need more than a 2nd chance to appreciate it. It is very perfumey with incredible technicianing—but is also extremely grounded, bold, pungent, and mildly bitter.

In their most fundamental forms there is great smiliarity between the distilling of alcoholic beverages and the distilling of fragrances so it's kind of a logical progression to apply the techniques of the former to the latter, and if this is the result of the application of whisky technology then it deserves a standing ovation. Fragrance Amber Wood is a true masterpiece based on extraordinary shades of amber. It is built around juicy fruit and spices, accentuating apple, white pepper, lavender and cardamom, leading us to the warm heart composed of woody-powdery notes of orris and cedar wood. The base of the composition is formed of hot shades of amber wood and patchouli. Pure Malt Creation is long-lasting with enough development to keep interest and enough projection (but certainly not too much). After four or five hours it will sit closer the skin, but in warmer room environments it will give nice projection even after that time. Personally, I wore this in the evenings on a ski-holiday at Christmas in Mayerhofen and it was just perfect. (Perfectly complemented the Burberry London I was wearing during the day.) A*Men Ultimate is a gourmand fragrance that is perfect for both day and night. It is a bit sweet and spicy, with a warm, inviting aroma. The coffee and tonka bean notes are the stars of the show, and they give the cologne a unique and inviting smell.Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Malt EDT is a fantastic, strong, sweet vanilla, boozy, malt, whiskey, resinous amber, and coffee fragrance.
