Description

You’ll want to use Reikenor to clear out hordes, with his Reaped Like Corn ability helping him plough through larger enemy units, and Wraithstorm, a unique spell which works particularly well against units of models with a single Wound each.

Reikenor really shines in the Hero phase with his Corpse Candles ability. Sometimes, you really, really need a spell to go off – maybe there’s an enemy Hero who’s just asking to be suddenly and violently acquainted with the Purple Sun of Shyish, or perhaps you’ve got a combo in mind and you don’t want it to be unbound. Corpse Candles lets you do just that – and you can even use it to harm your enemies!Warhammer Underworlds Warband. As can be expected the same story is true here, due to requiring they come with the warband, the point cost is inflated to a point that makes the Hero themselves worthless. If you can even get one at this point, as they were in the second edition of Warhammer Underworlds which has since gone out of print. Battleline Low. Nighthaunts have been through an interesting up and down. They used to do reasonably well, then faced a decline that they haven’t really recovered from. You’ll see the occasional list appear on tournaments but not as often as one would like. It suffers from early battletome syndrome and it’s just very hard for them to make up the lost ground of having inferior army traits to newer, fresher books. Nighthaunts vs. Legion of Grief The Nighthaunt book is pretty dry on Command traits. There aren’t a few different tables for each type of commander, it’s just one with 6. They’re pretty mediocre, so many will choose to run Lady Olynder as a General due to her special ability rather than getting a command trait, we’ll discuss what that does in her unit entry but it is pretty competitive.

To aid Reikenor in his appointed task, Nagash has bound to him Kyllaron, a fierce winged Nightmare. Mounted on the undead steed's head armour are a grim assortment of corpse candles. They are a unique mix of tallow rendered from Reikenor's former apprentices along with a grave-sand mix. Indeed, after his soul was claimed by Nagash, it was the Grimhailer's own disciples that were his first target. They too were blasphemers and Nagash deemed their fate fitting. By snuffing out the flame of a corpse candle, Reikenor can end the life of a nearby mortal or siphon off a portion of his own essence - either way, by doing so he creates a surge of arcane force to empower his enchantments. The Grimhailer is now condemned to kill forever, and that he must extinguish light and create darkness to do so is a cruel twist that Nagash holds as one of his most just punishments. [1a] Spectral tether –Casting Value 6. Heal a friendly Hero within 12″ for D3 wounds. You have access to a better healing spell through the Guardian of Souls, while this spell isn’t atrocious you do have better ways to heal. C+

All enemy units suffer -1 Bravery within 6″ of a Nighthaunt unit. Your units are mostly melee based so you’ll be in melee range most of the time, nice little buff that will help get a few extra models but it wont change the game by itself. Deathless Spirits Reroll all failed hit rolls for Chainrasps within 15″ of spirit torment or Chainghasts. This would be awesome if Spirit Torments and Chainghasts were just a bit better, as it stands the tax is just too high. Chainguard

Numbers –Nighthaunts are a bit of a horde army, you can field large units with your 10 bravery and cheap units. Many of your units have the SUMMONABLE keyword which allows many powers and spells to heal and restore dead models. Reaping Scythe –Casting Value 4. Supercharge the caster, letting them reroll all hits and wounds with melee weapons. Use this on a Knight of Shrouds with the Midnight Tome or Reikenor. B After years of collecting, buying and selling, building and painting, we realised that we had amassed a small library of Build Instructions, Assembly Instructions and User Guides for various Games Workshop products. No Subfactions – In a rather baffling decision, Nighthaunts don’t have subfactions like other books. It was a launch battletome so it’s likely they did not know at the time those would be so important. Immune to Rend –All of your units ignore modifiers to saves, positive or negative making high rend opposition useless.

Nighthaunt.

The book contains two Nighthaunt Processions, which add additional keywords and allegiance abilities to your army. If you choose Lady Olynder’s Emerald Host, for example, your Hexwraiths become the Knights of Regret, Dolorum’s elite household guardians. Mortal Realms is a microcosm of hobby. It’s everything you need to learn, play and paint your models, drip feed over period of time you can slowly build your collections for a great price. With painting guides, battle plans, warscrolls, Warscroll battalions, lore, paints, models and so much more it’s a really fun way to experience the hobby at a great price. Value The core book came with a lot of Battalions and so by sheer number a few manage to actually succeed and see use in competitive play.
