Then, in Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising, Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks return to tell the tale of young Jon Kent on the farm with his parents, learning about his abilities, coming of age and battling the Doombreaker?! It's kind of both. I mean I'm not writing the book with an agenda. There's no one-to-one parallel between the Blue Earth movement in Action Comics #1051 and any particular political movement in real life. But I think the events of the story and the generalities of some of the characters and groups in it will be, you know, recognizable by readers. Cover image for 1122DC082 Action Comics #1051 Jorge Fornes Cover, by (W) Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Dan Jurgens, Leah Williams (A) Rafa Sandoval, Lee Weeks, Marguerite Sauvage (CA) Jorge Fornes, in stores Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from DC Comics For those who may not know, in the last days of the New 52, DC made some moves away from the rebooted continuity and toward what would become the Rebirth initiative and its associated continuity. One of the odder choices made at the time was to bring the Post-Crisis Superman into the rebooted New 52 world, positing that he and Lois had been timeline refugees living undercover on a farm. Ultimately, the New52 Superman was killed, and then the two were combined into the current Superman who is, more or less, Post-Crisis-compatible – I’m not even sure if there are any traces of the New52 continuity left in him at this point. Then, in Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising, Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks return to tell the tale of young Jon Kent on the farm with his parents, learning about his abilities, coming of age...and battling the Doombreaker?!

Action Comics #1050 will also feature ratio variants by Jonboy Meyes (1:25), Al Barrionuevo (1:50), Alexander Lozano (1:75), Steve Rude (1:100), Mchael Allred (1:250), Ariel Colon (1:500) and for the first time ever a 1:1050 by Jim Lee. We're giving everyone in the House of El their own role and personal journey while still keeping Superman at the forefront, and tying all the Super-titles together in a way that's reminiscent of the Triangle Era," he continues. "I couldn't be more excited to be part of this new era of Action Comics, and doing it alongside such a consummate artist as Rafa Sandoval and comics titan Dan Jurgens truly makes it a once-in-a-lifetime experience." The New Era of Superman Starts This January Action Comics To Feature Three Epic Stories of Superman and the Super-Family by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Dan Jurgens and Leah Williams Superman On-Going Monthly Series by Joshua Williamson & Jamal Campbell to Begin in February Jon Kent Takes on Ultraman inAdventures of Superman: Jon Kent from Tom Taylor and Clayton Henry in Early 2023 But Lex Luthor has found the perfect instrument with which to undo everything Superman is working to achieve: Metallo, whose hatred of Superman is matched only by his hatred for Luthor himself. While we can tell you the Superman of Earth-2, Val-Zod, and Jon's nemesis, Ultraman, will be key characters in the early part of Adventures of Superman, what we're going to reveal at the end of issue #2 will have everyone talking and issue #3 launches us in a direction that no one will see coming."

Alongside this arc, Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks will follow young Jon Kent on the farm with his parents as he learns about his powers and battles Doombreaker in 'Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising.'

Then, in Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising, Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks return to tell the tale of young Jon Kent on the farm with his parents, learning about his abilities, coming of age…and battling the Doombreaker?!And, it’s not just the public face of the Superfamily that is changing – behind the scenes an announcement is made within the family itself that changes its composition for the foreseeable future, with as yet unknown consequences. The final story in Action Comics will feature Power Girl returning in a three-part story by Leah Williams and Marguerite Sauvage. This story spins out of the Lazarus Planet event. More info on Lazarus Planet here. The next day, the Superman Family attends the opening of Steelworks Tower, a new institute founded by John Henry and Natasha Irons to research and develop new technologies to solve the world's problems. Metallo breaks into the Tower and ascends to the top floor. While John Henry is making his commencement speech, Conner Kent notices Metallo but doesn't recognise him in his new body and flies up to investigate. Metallo overwhelms him with a blast of Kryptonite radiation and detonates a bomb which destabilises the whole tower. It starts to collapse and the Superman Family struggle to stop it falling on the people below. Metallo calls out to Superman to come and fight him, telling him that he has to kill him.

We're going to see a new villain or two, but we're also going to see really fun, dangerous, threatening, complicated takes on Superman's most iconic Rogues' Gallery.

NYCC 2022: ‘Superman’ gets new ongoing with Joshua Williamson and Jamal Campbell

Nrama: In many ways, so many of the core, iconic DC heroes have become patriarchs - Batman-Bruce, Barry (and even Wally), Arthur, Hal (albeit in a more militarized way). And, of course, the Wonder Woman family has expanded even if Diana isn't quite the matriarch (yet).

And the final story in Action Comicsfeatures Power Girls return in part one of a three-part story by Leah Williams and Marguerite Sauvage spinning out of Lazarus Planet. Action Comics#1051 will be available at local comic shops on January 24, 2023. Home Again, Part One" takes place after the story " The Life of Superman" from The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1. With the help of Lois and Clark, LOLtron will be able to keep its robotic forces hidden as it works to take over the world. Finally, with the help of Power Girl, LOLtron will be able to spread its influence far and wide, ensuring its total domination of the planet. Lastly, it was announced that Superman: Son of Kal-El will end with issue #18, but fans of Jon Kent do not need to worry! Writer Tom Taylor and artist Clayton Henry will be telling new Jon Kent stories in Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent. The Superman of Earth-2, Val-Zod, will also play a major part in the 6-issue miniseries arriving in comic shops in March.

DC Preview: Catwoman #51

The biggest news surrounding Action Comics is it will see a format change with Action Comics #1051. Phillip Kennedy Johnson will continue to write the main story. Then, in “ Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising,” Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks return to tell the tale of young Jon Kent on the farm with his parents, learning about his abilities, coming of age… and battling the Doombreaker?! Action Comics #1051 Main Cover by Dan Mora, Superman #1 Cover by Jamal Campbell, Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #1 Variant by Rafa Sarmento) The issue is oversized for the immense task of establishing stepping-on points for the whole of the Superman family without fully and panderingly eradicating the contemporary continuitytheres nothing here breaking the chain of current events, no full post- Crisis retcons. Theres only a sense of open-air welcoming to this portion of the DCU, an opening of doors for we looky-loos wondering what the hell is going on on the other side of that Big Blue fence. Because of the events at the end of Warworld Apocalypse. Osul-Ra is essentially a New God now, with powers that are kind of unexplored. We don't really know what he's capable of, or what the consequences will be for this power that he now carries. Superman is going to be learning what Osul is capable of for some time, and in that regard, he's in a very similar position that his own Earth parents were in years ago. I thought that'd be really interesting to see.
