I personally always been interested in the Day of the Dead myself – I like the idea of celebrating the dead and making the “morbid, less morbid”. So once again, we thought we would come together and share our Day of Dead Craft ideas in a video for you. I have then added some additional links for you peruse! Día de los Muertos Overview Finally, work to create a classroom ofrenda . You could work with your class to create the ofrenda, communicate with families to donate items, or set it up and invite students to bring photos or mementos of departed loved ones. These could include relatives, family members, and pets. Dig into resources and activities that will bring the traditions of Día de los Muertos to your classroom, allowing students to embrace the beauty of the holiday .

I asked the boys what they would like to make, and ‘masks’ and ‘bunting’ seemed popular and do-able choices… as they are 9 and 10 now, and love their Marvel graphic novels, they wanted me to ‘draw’ the templates in Illustrator for them to colour – so that’s what we’ve done… and I’ve attached a FREE Printable for you to colour and create your own Day of the Dead garland too…(you too can make your own ‘microwave dave’ character like the 10yo…) Make sure everyone knows they don’t have to share anything about themselves if they don’t want to.
