About this deal

Each set comes with the calendar puzzle frame and eight pieces. All you need to do is fit the pieces in the frame in a way that only leaves one month and one day exposed. We're starting with the most permissive criterias and then we'll be adding more and more restraints which will reduce the number of solutions. To get on the leaderboard, fill in the form below with the passcode solved from the puzzle within 125 hours of the puzzle being released. After 25 hours, the country for that puzzle will be revealed, then 25 hours after that, the city will be revealed. Description The original daily calendar puzzle with 365+ challenges for every day of the year! Now available in 6 languages!

It has 10 pieces that can be flipped/rotated and placed on a calendar. They claim there is a solution for each day/month/weekday combination. In the YouTube video Drew is struggling and says: Here we will count a flipped piece as a new solution, even if the shape is the same. We can think of this as the pieces having separate colors on each side. A square shape with a hole made up of three shapes that can be rotated or flipped to provide eight or twelve solutions (perahps with an l-shape swap). To solve this, I first encoded all the puzzle pieces, this is relatively easy to do because it’s just a 2D grid. There are no prizes or awards available, only bragging rights and the fun of discovering new places. We’re all missing the days when we used to be able to explore the portals of the world. Although it may still be a fair while until we are able to visit them in person again, we can still discover new places and learn a lot about them through the Intel map and Google Search. The solutions do not have to create a valid date. There can be two month gaps, two day gaps as well as invalid dates such as February 31 st.

When you solve the puzzle, don’t share the passcode in any channels, let other people enjoy solving the puzzles in their own time. However, you can help guide new agents on the right path. There are almost 120 thousand ways the pieces fit in the frame, but finding the date you want can sometimes drive you crazy! (Some people decided it would be easier to change their birthdays instead!) The below leaderboard updates every 10 minutes (manual refresh required). If you’re having issues, try a force refresh (shift+F5) About a month ago I was watching a YouTube video where YouTuber Drew Gooden was struggling with a “weird” puzzle:Next we consider a flipped piece a new solution only if it has a new shape. Symmetrical pieces can then only be placed in 4 orientations and the asymmetrical pieces can still be placed in 8 orientations. Genius! Most puzzles you only solve once and you’re done. This puzzle is a new puzzle every day.” – Terry E. Most passcodes are more than likely fully redeemed already however the correct passcode will still work in the form below for this challenge. I found this puzzle the other week by Dragonfjord called A Puzzle Day. Basically you fit the pieces into a Tetris board but leave the current Mon and Day open. Since I also just bought a laser cutter, I thought I could program a solver for this puzzle and use that program to help me make new puzzles. The very first optimized brute force version of my program took about 8 minutes to find all solutions for a single day. After playing with pypy and multiprocessing I was able to get it down to about 2 minutes. That would still have taken well over 12 hours to find all solutions for every day. Eventually, I was lead down an interesting path of learning what Dancing Links and Algorithm X were and trying to wrap my head around it. I was finally able to get my program to find all solutions for all days in a little under 7m. In the end, I finished the program and ran some numbers that some of you might find interesting.

A-Puzzle-A-Day makes a great gift for your friends, family, coworkers and yourself! Warning! This puzzle is highly addictive! With varying criterias we have found more and less than 120 000 solutions but not anything close to specifically 120 000 solutions.
