Prince Hayes is everything but powerful! In fact, he’s almost a decoy of a Prince, for if the King could, he would delete his younger son from the family tree. You do fall for Hayes, he’s such a good guy (or is he?)!

I absolutely loved this book! It's dark, it's fun, it's sexy (in a YA way, don't worry) and it's mysterious. That being said, I'm *especially* glad I read this gem. This book is honestly one of my favorite books of the year and I am sure will become a favorite series. It is a fast-paced story with a lot going on and a lot of tension brewing. The world building in this is so fantastic. We don't get info dump, rather we get a steady stream of info that makes it easy to follow the fantasy world and understand what's going on (I LOVE when authors can do this so seamlessly). This book has fae, witches, sirens, and a whole host of other creatures important to this story. Sing Me to Sleep is a story about Saoirse, a siren in hiding, protecting her little sister by going to work for the crown prince.

Taste the Sea

Hayes, our sweet Prince, was an interesting character. I don't usually get intrigued by such characters, meaning the innocent, unhappy privileged kind. But something about Hayes made me like him instantly. It's partly thanks to the Hayes effect and partly the author's incredible writing. He also had a beautiful character development. He didn't lose his sweet demeanor, but he grew up (the hard way). Descriptions of our characters surroundings on the other hand were just non - existent. The story starts out in a pub for example, but do I know how it looked like?? Nope. Same with Characters, I guess one dude's cheekbones looked like glass, whatever that's supposed to mean. Not sharp like glass, not cut like glass, just glass. Guess our poor man was just see-through. And everyone's eyes were a different crystal colour, but that's as far as we get.

In this dark and seductive YA fantasy debut, a siren must choose between protecting her family and following her heart in a prejudiced kingdom where her existence is illegal.Within the kingdom of Kierdre you have Fae being Water, Earth, Air and Fire, witches, sirens and lots more which play a crucial part in the story.

OH MY GOD THIS BOOK IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! i was hooked right from the start of the book and the twists and turns made my head spin. i can honestly see this book being the YA book of 2023 - it is honestly incredible. This book has a lot less water action that I was led to believe. I personally didn't mind that but I definitely think everyone who thinks they'll get lots of underwater and mermaid/siren action definitely needs to readjust their expectations. Additionally I am not a fan of stories that never would occur, had the main character simply communicated information to someone else. This entire plot line would not exist had the main character been open with her thoughts; which is what any normal adult would have done. But since this is a story of a child, she's incapable of mature decision making.

As a siren, Saoirse can physically taste emotions, and this adds a layer to her character that allows us a further window into her reasoning. She can taste her sister’s fear, she can taste the disappointment of her loved ones when they realise what she has done, and so her decisions are influenced by that emotional connection she has to those around her. It makes for a fascinating internal struggle that draws you in and demands you read on.
