The first impression of the Audio Pro A28 is really positive. Although much smaller than shoeboxes, they provide a well-rounded and warm sound more reminiscent of a ‘real’ stereo system than a pair of small multi-room speakers. Lytter man lidt grundigere efter, kommer svaghederne dog frem. For der er trods alt grænser for, hvad det kan lade sig gøre at få for under 5.000 kroner. Mens mellemtonegengivelsen umiddelbart virker åben, og der ikke er antydning af ‘hængekøjekurve’ mellem de to enheder, er nuanceringen ikke som på bedre (dyrere) højttalere. Det betyder, at klangforskellen mellem forskellige stemmer udviskes. Diskanten savner også frigjorthed i toppen, og længere nede, omkring 4 kHz, bliver den på nogle numre noget skarp i lyden. Og det samlede indtryk af Audio Pro A28 er en højttaler, der leverer meget til prisen. Men på ren lydkvalitet har vi altså hørt bedre til samme penge i de meget vellykkede Argon Audio Forte A4, der nu også fås med HDMI-indgang. De mangler så til gengæld indbygget streaming og multirum. A28 kan også godt fungere i en lille stue, hvor de kan give langt bedre lyd til TV’et end en soundbar i samme prisklasse. Dog kun i stereo. Man er med andre ord virkelig godt dækket ind i betragtning af, at det her er et billigt højttalersystem fra en lille svensk producent! There’s also an audio virtualiser mode to help create a soundstage especially for movie-watching and a night mode to enhance dialogue clarity while keeping the main volume and bass as low as possible.The biggest advantage with a pair of speakers rather than just a single one is full-fat stereo sound. No matter how well designed a single speaker is, genuine stereo speakers always deliver a broader soundstage – just like when you’re at a live concert or show. As the Audio Pro A38 is a floorstanding speaker, that part of the placement consideration is decided in advance. But including the base, each speaker takes up less floor space than an A4 sheet of paper. Right at the top, there are plenty of sounds from the metal parts of the drum kit but they’re not sounds we particularly enjoy. The treble notes are unsophisticated and the tweeter sounds too messy. The hi-hats, the snares and the cymbals are hard to differentiate, which rather spoils the pleasure of Bill Berry’s work.

These Audio Pros aren’t a bad pair of wireless speakers –they are easy to set up; they can work for both your music and your TV sound; and they are capable of working in a multi-room set-up. They support just about every kind of input and you can use pretty much any music streaming service with them. It’s not a long way off a room-filling performance and certainly enough to feel the bass in our bodies. However, it’s a soft-edged sound, missing the precision to convey a good sense of the pulse of the music.
