Description

There are no fewer than 20 miniatures (so, two teams of 10) and 18 bits of terrain in the Nachmund set. Buyers of the box will be safe in the knowledge that they will be able to not only two complete squads to their name, but also that their battlefields can look suitably immersive whilst spinning dice and pushing figures around. Legionary Operatives

As I said above we do not have a direct comparison for this set. But in the time since I started writing this and now, GW has released the Aeldari Guardians. Which is 10 models with a Hovering heavy Weapons Platform. Wednesday brings a new episode of Loremasters to Warhammer+ all about the sinister and clandestine Imperial organisation known as the Inquisition, and you can also catch part one of a three-part Citadel Colour Masterclass series looking at painting the magnificent Avatar of Khaine. Meanwhile, on the animations front, you can expect the third and final episode of The Exodite on the 6th of April, as we continue to ramp up to a biweekly animation schedule. The addition of the two double-sided boards means you can have two Kill Team games running at once on a standard-sized dining table, and then combine them for a smaller 40K game, which is ideal. Now that we’ve seen the price for the box itself, and the previous releases of the teams, we have a pretty good idea of what everything inside will add up to. This set also has a decent amount of terrain, so it could be a good value. This isn’t my ideal table layout by any means, and I generally think that these buildings aren’t amazingly suited for competitive play, but you can cobble something workable together with only a little bit of effort. Narrative Play and Modeling There are some good missions here, with some clever hooks. For many of them I think the boxed set terrain is an OK start but not really ideal, and I’d suggest upping the stakes and adding more terrain to the table if you’ve got it. The prices are guessed at this point, but based on what we’ve seen, we think this is pretty close. Terrain All these classic miniatures are a great way to add variety and character to an Aeldari army on the tabletop, and they also work as fascinating painting projects. And, of course, it’s an opportunity to add models you may have missed to your collection.

Rogues Quarter - May 2022: Ork Sektor terrain from TTCombat: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nfMCU4UQ_cStsMyiZn4gbSOUz5-RHcjM/view?usp=sharingThe individual pieces are chunky and geometric and well made enough to fit together easily without any significant gaps. The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow and the top of the landing pad actually comes as a single separate piece with no attached sprues. Now, let’s see the type of value you get inside the Battlezone: Fronteris – Nachmund terrain box set! Richard Butler: We wanted to expand on the idea of frontier worlds, where brave colonists and foolhardy pioneers have set up Imperial outposts and settlements, surviving dangerous territories and climates. At the same time, we wanted to produce genuinely useful gaming terrain. Dave: I always like to see what people do with our terrain – like when hobbyists are chopping them up and converting them in ways I’d never thought of. It’s not so long ago that if you wanted some scenery, you’d have to make it yourself out of bits of cardboard. These kits make it a lot more accessible, so it’s always great to see people enjoying them. Thanks for the tips! I recently got a good amount of terrain from discounted sources, and it is exceedingly nice to have pointers on how to generate this run-down, off-white as first presented in the "KillTeam: Octarius" barricades.

Fans of the grim darkness of the far future and hot drinks can also get three new Warhammer 40,000 themed mugs next week. There’s one for fans of Blood Angels, one featuring an Ultramarines Intercessor and Imotekh The Stormlord, and a heat changing one where a battlescene appears as it gets warmer. Whilst the Chaos rules generally exploit the various themes surrounding the differnet Chaos Gods, the Corsair rules tend to focus around how nimble the Aeldari are, focusing on movement and their general ability to traverse the board at lightning speed. The vast amount of options for each miniature is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, all the different parts available allow you to personalise your figures to your heart’s content, and will leave you with plenty of bits left over for future projects. We’re basing this off the Octarius Prices rather than the Chalnath becasue, along with the 20(ish) miniatures in all the sets, there is also a ton of chunky scenery parts in this box. So we expect Octarius to be the base price.

If I were to create a symmetric Incursion board with this terrain for competitive play, it might look something like this: Beneath the plastic lies a divider, designed to keep the pointy bits of sprue from scratching up the stuff beneath. Severe and functional, these bastions have just enough gothic flourishes and skulls to make it very clear these are Imperial-made.* With one or two notable exceptions *cough fine cast cough* the Workshop can usually be relied on to produce high-quality, highly detailed kits, and Battlezone: Fronteris Nachmund is no exception.
