But the Redemptor and Brutalis are both much closer in design to the Castraferrum of the 90s, but clearly updated and refreshed. And while the Redemptor is the general warfare variant, the Brutalis has a clear connection to the Furioso Dreadnought of the Blood Angels from around the 3rd edition. The old metal miniatures from the 90s, got replaced with plastic kits, some were multi-class, covering different variants, others were specific like the Scriptor or Venerable, and are currently - as broad parts of the First Born range - replaced by newer, Primaris-sized kits. Such is the miraculous design of the Redemptor's neural links that its inhabitant, despite being entombed in a box-like sarcophagus within the Dreadnought's torso, can exercise control with surprising dexterity and speed. Yet it is whispered that the advanced systems of the Redemptor are a curse as well as a blessing. The Martian Tech-priests in the service of Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl who first built these walking machines of destruction spared little thought to the health of the incumbent, seeing him as little more than another part to be interred or replaced as necessary. The Hellfire Dreadnought replaces the standard Dreadnought's Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon with a Missile Launcher, trading its close combat ability for long-range, anti-vehicle firepower. The advantage of the Dreadnought's Missile Launcher over its Space Marine equivalent is that it is capable of moving at full speed whilst still laying down a barrage of missiles. Hellfire Dreadnoughts are usually referred to as Fire Support Dreadnoughts, or in many cases are given no special designation. The Hellfire Dreadnought's Missile Launcher carries up to 8 Krak Missiles that are capable of causing severe damage to enemy vehicles, and unlike the Missile Launchers carried by Space Marine infantry, the Dreadnought is fully capable of firing accurately whilst moving. The Hellfire Dreadnought is capable of replacing the twin-linked Autocannon with most Dreadnought ranged weapons, such as a set of twin-linked Lascannons. A sub-variant of the Hellfire Dreadnought, known as the Firewind Dreadnought is armed with a set of twin-linked Heavy Bolters.

The heavy armour on the chest replete with flat surfaces and sharp lines, perfect for adding transfers and detail of the Redemptor Dreadnought can be modelled to pivot open, showing the sarcophagus interred within. The adventurous hobbyist can remove the pegs from the waist, arms and legs of the model too, allowing for a greater range of posing options.Rahellion ( Deathwatch) - Rahellion is a Redemptor Dreadnought currently serving in the Deathwatch. He was part of a strike force that invaded the Ork-held planet of Gruk's World to destroy the Doomzday Bomb. In the battle that followed, Rahellion earned himself great renown by singlehandedly tearing apart the Warboss Gruk and then destroying the bomb. Malcades ( Ultramarines) - Malcades was a Redemptor Dreadnought in service to the Ultramarines Chapter who was the first Primaris Space Marine to fall in battle in the Realm of Ultramar during the Indomitus Crusade. After being placed within the shell of a Redemptor Dreadnought, he fought in the Plague Wars on the Ultramaran world of Espandor against the forces of Nurgle. But let us start building the Brutalis, with the sarcophagus. The inner core of the model, where the veteran remains would be embedded. The front comes with a single design, the older plastic kits of the Dreadnought usually had variants (partially chapter specific), but these don't. This is a different design from the Redemptor, and I assume you can swap them, but as the new Primaris Dreadnoughts have additional armour panels above these, that is not a big issue. Warhammer Community already released a post on the painted models by different artists and they did a great job, covering from camouflaged to very iconic chapter colours, all kinds of different final results. This led him to gain significant strategic insight, which he and his fellow Redemptor Dreadnought Indomator provided to the strike force of Lieutenant Cassian as they fought the crusade's enemies. During that time Indomator successfully aided the strike force in defeating the flesh-cults of the world of Knossa in the Imperium Nihilus and the Death Guard warband of the Lord of Contagion Gurloch. Gideon of the Adamant Fist ( Deathwatch) - Gideon of the Adamant Fist is one of the few Redemptor Dreadnoughts serving in the Deathwatch. He has had an immediate and spectacular effect on whatever mission or battle he has fought in. He has already been recorded as a hero of the Deathwatch in the annals of his watch fortress. The Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought was once a staple of the armoured might of the Space Marine Legions first raised on Terra following the end of the Unification Wars. Evidence of their ancient origins exist in the forms of sacred Chapter memento mori and other ancient Imperial monuments raised on worlds such as Necromunda and Lorin Alpha. This suggests that the Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought played an integral part in the earliest Astartes forces raised on Terra for the Great Crusade.A Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons Legion Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought during an Imperial Compliance action.

The Siege Dreadnought is designed exclusively for assaults against fortified positions. Some Space Marine Chapters have equipped their armoured Dreadnought Battle-Brothers to siege fortresses and lead their assaults upon other fortified enemy emplacements. They are equipped with either an Inferno Cannon or a Flamestorm Cannon for clearing out enemy infantry from bunkers and an Assault Drill arm for grinding through Ferrocrete in only a matter of seconds. This arm also usually includes a built-in Heavy Flamer so that once a hole has been drilled, the Dreadnought can pour super-heated Promethium into a bunker or pill box complex. Siege Dreadnoughts are specialised units and are only deployed when a Chapter needs to break through a stubborn static defence line or during close quarters street-to-street fighting within a city or town. A Siege Dreadnought's standard weapons loadout includes an Inferno Cannon, an Assault Drill with built-in Heavy Flamer, Smoke Launchers, a Searchlight and reinforced Ceramite Armour. In some cases the Inferno Cannon can be replaced with a Multi-melta, and two Hunter-Killer Missile Launchers can be attached using external sponsons to the Dreadnought's carapace. An Ultramarines Brutalis Dreadnought outfitted with Brutalis Talons, twin-linked Icarus Ironhail Heavy Stubbers, and two Multi-Meltas. The Hammerfall Bunker is already armed with superfrag and superkrak missiles, so we know what they’re going to be like: superfrag fires 2d6 shots per round while superkrak is a Heavy 2, Strength 10 anti-tank weapon. Depending on points cost, these should be a terrifying addition to ranged Space Marines *cough* Iron Hands *cough*. During the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras, the Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought was a dedicated heavy support Dreadnought frame, though it shared many core components and systems with the more general assault-based Contemptor Pattern. Initially deployed in limited numbers to each of the Space Marine Legions due to difficulties in its manufacture, its durability and firepower saw demand for the Deredeo Pattern dramatically increase after the outbreak of the Horus Heresy.Any Mark IV or Mark V Castraferrum Dreadnought may replace its Multi-Melta with any of these options: The Furibundus Pattern Dreadnought was one of the earliest patterns of Dreadnought that was used by the Legiones Astartes. There exists little information on this pattern within current Imperial records. The Furibundus Dreadnought was similar in stature to the ancient Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought, with a more rounded and squat chassis and legs.
