That means that you’re going to end up with acoustic properties unlike many other devices available on the market. Sure, wood looks stunning, but it also provides added depth and reverb. As one of the best-known radio brands in the UK, Revo has had an incredible run over the last fifteen years, providing state-of-the-art radio broadcasting to homes across the country.

Unsurprisingly, fantastic. It has the same strengths as the R1S – it’s lively, warm and articulate with impressive texture and detail – but on a larger scale. Whether you’re listening to UK DAB+ stations or internet radio elsewhere, it’s hard to quibble with the tone or the dynamics, and it even handles complex, classical music and opera with finesse. Meanwhile, Radio 4 news and factual programmes or dramas have plenty of weight. A hand-crafted wooden cabinet has been selected for its superb acoustic properties, no other material provides the deep foundations of great audio performance like wood.Additionally, the authentic wooden cabinet ensures that you get plenty of warmth and depth built into the SuperConnect sound. The radio comes with Balanced Mode Radiator technology, which helps improve your sound quality even further. Cutting-edge sound modelling techniques have been used to design SuperConnect’s award-winning sound profile. In tandem with our custom hardware design, SuperConnect’s proprietary EQ configuration develops a warm open sound with clarity, detail and deep rich bass – free from coloration and distortion and benefiting from an expansive sound field. We find that there’s more than enough variety in this radio when it comes to finding something to listen to daily. With a graphical OLED display and a 15W audio performance, the Revo is brimming with functionality. Revo is a newer brand, having been founded in Lanark in 2004. It designs digital audio devices that combine the latest digital audio technology with the finest design principles. Product Ranges and Features

The SuperConnect Stereo’s audio characteristics are the result of a considered blend of the finest electronic, acoustic and software design. Premium quality audio components, all-digital technology, cutting-edge sound modelling techniques and a carefully engineered bass porting system combine to deliver category defining performance. The tactile feel of the unit combined with its beautiful image makes it hard not to fall in love with the SuperConnect. What’s more, you get real, genuine wood casing with this device – not just wood-effect plastic. As a highly connected radio, the SuperConnect can deliver more than 36,000 radio stations to listeners around the world.

All radio products are tested against rivals in the same price category, and all review verdicts are agreed upon by the team as a whole rather than an individual reviewer, again helping to ensure consistency and avoid any personal preference. We test not only the raw audio quality of internet radio (and FM and DAB) but all its advertised features from Bluetooth connectivity to streaming support to the alarms and presets. The Revo SuperConnect Stereo is one of the best internet radios when it comes to finding stations and podcasts but it would be great if it incorporated voice search, either stand-alone or through Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa. And, while it’s not really a complaint, you need to be careful about positioning. Placed too close to a wall in an alcove in a corner of our dining room, the bass is magnified, becoming slightly boomy and strident. Still, that’s nothing pulling it forward a few centimetres or a little tinkering in the EQ settings couldn’t fix. If you’re looking for a gadget with clear digital audio to satisfy any audiophile, this could be the go-to home radio you’ve always wanted. Thanks to a built-in WLAN network streamer, Revo can also stream tunes from any connected device on your home network (such as a music server, if you have one). We found that the extra space on the display is particularly useful when it comes to navigating through digital menus.

Configuring everything from the moment you get your new equipment is a breeze, and navigating 16,000 available radio stations couldn’t be simpler. Headquartered in a small Scottish town (Lanark), Revo designs specialist audio devices for consumers around the UK and across the globe. What’s more, they can stream stations from all around the world – so you can still listen to BBC Radio, Kiss, Classic FM and the rest, or try out world music from Brazil and Mali, classical broadcasts from Berlin and Vienna, talk radio from New York and country music straight from Nashville. There’s also a range of connectivity options to choose from, such as Bluetooth for wirelessly streaming your personal music collection. If you aren’t charmed by the Ruark R2 Mk4’s looks and feature set so far, you will be once you start playing music on it. Whether it’s radio, Bluetooth streams or podcasts, it sounds hugely enjoyable. It’s with streaming sources, however, that the R2 Mk4 really shines over the R1S. The latter sounded brilliant for a bookshelf unit, especially with a little judicious EQ tinkering and some time to bed in. However, the R2 Mk4 takes things to a higher level, with a wider and more open soundstage and a slightly richer sound overall. I’d happily use it as my main music system.

The Model One Digital Generation 2 looks for all the world like a "normal" radio, complete with fabric grille, antenna and real-wood finish, but don't be fooled. At its core, the Tivoli is a wi-fi radio, with DAB+/FM taking the reins and now, Chromecast, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth connectivity its valuable passengers. All Ruark devices have a RotoDial control system that accesses menus by scrolling and then pressing to select. Added to that, there’s a remote control plus an UNDOK app for use on a phone or tablet. Revo SuperSystem is an all-in-one music system that includes DAB/DAB+, FM and internet radio, Spotify Connect support, Bluetooth wireless streaming, connection to NAS drives and other devices, Ethernet, USB charging and other connectors. Controls are as for the SuperConnect and there’s an OLED display plus dual alarms. Ruark produces speaker systems, a hi-fi radiogram and music systems as well as a standalone radio. Its product range is relatively small due to the size of the company and the need to keep quality standards high. For quality streaming from smartphones, just pair the phone to your SuperConnect via Bluetooth, and you’re ready to go.
