If you have a very large record collection and money is no object, then you may want to consider a fully-automated record cleaning machine with ultrasonic cleaning technology. Tangari, Joe. Explosions In the Sky Take Care, Take Care, Take Care pitchfork.com. April 25, 2011. Retrieved on April 29, 2011.

To use, spray the solution onto your microfiber cloth, and lightly wipe in a circular motion around your vinyl. Avoid pressing too hard on the vinyl, as that can cause any dust or gunk to sink deeper into your record. After a few spins around, let any leftover solution dry before playing your freshly cleaned record.Take your applicator and apply a small amount of the record care solution to its surface as directed by the guidance. Cleaning Machines – Once you have a big collection, cleaning records by hand might be a lot of effort. There are vacuum cleaning machines that automatically apply a cleaning solution and then vacuum the liquid off again. There are also spin cleaners that clean the record with the solution as it spins with the brushes cleaning off the dirt. Although effective, they can be expensive. Paper with poly lining – As you can probably guess, a mixture of the above. The outside paper makes the sleeve much more rigid whilst the poly lining inside lets the vinyl slip in much smoother with a lower risk of scratching and collecting dust. Doormats are a great way to make sure you don’t bring grime and dirt into your house and over your flooring – keeping them at external doorways helps keep the dirt at bay. So when you’re not playing them, where is your vinyl going to live? And what are the best ways to store them? Ideally you’ll want to keep them in a clean dry place, avoiding extreme temperatures and humidity (so not in the bathroom or sauna if that’s what you were thinking…) What you’re doing is trying to avoid warping the record. Warping is when the record bends out of shape which often leads to unplayable vinyl. There are methods ofunwarpingbut prevention is the best cure, so keep them away from direct sunlight and high heat.

Avoid wearing outdoor shoes on vinyl flooring where possible, especially high heels or metal-trimmed soles. Vinyl flooring is very hard-wearing, but the constant use of hard shoes will inevitably leave marks. By far one of the most effective ways to clean records – particularly en masse – is to use a record cleaning machine. Depending on your budget, there are several routes you can go down. Dry Cleaning – Use a carbonfibrebrush to clean your vinyl before and after every play. Brush lightly along the grooves and this will help prevent the build up of dust and other dirt. The carbon strands (on the outer surface of the cleaner) reduce the static charge on the vinyl (which attracts dust) and the inner part (usually a cloth material) then collects the dust on the second wipe after the static is reduced.Remember to regularly clean the brush too. This should be a regular practice in your listening sessions.A good quality outer record sleeve will help protect the record further from dust, while also helping to preserve the cover art from wearing out every time you pull a record from your library to play. Again, MoFi offers a good affordable solution here, but I’ve been increasingly impressed by a new player on the market by the name of Vinyl Storage Solutions. Once your records are clean, it’s time to properly store them. Older records came in cheap sleeves that yellowed over time, so it’s worth upgrading them with a more effective set. Vinyl is certainly not without its faults. But nevertheless, if you like the physical product and you’re prepared to put in a little extra groundwork to maintain your records – collecting vinyl can be one of the most rewarding ways to consume music. Cleaning up spills and stains as soon as possible will help to keep your vinyl flooring looking good as new for longer. We go into further detail about how to clean vinyl floors below. The only slight downside is that you'll need to invest in some kind of protective cover or perspex lid to keep the VC-E dust free. Either that, or box it up each time you've completed cleaning a batch of LPs.

Wife of Suspected Long Island Serial Killer Accused of 'Trying to Capitalize' on Case With New Docuseries Wet Cleaning – Highly recommended when you want to give your records a deep clean. A mixture of record cleaning fluid and water (distilled, not tap!) works well. Clean with amicro-fibrecloth and dry with a separatemicro-fibrecloth. Step one is the proper storage of your precious records when they’re not in use. Firstly, always store your records vertically and away from extreme temperature or humidity changes to prevent warping. Never lay your records flat as this is a sure way to warp them over time. Secondly, dust and dirt are the audiophiles’ worst enemy, and the best weapon here is prevention. Always store your records in their sleeve and place them inside the cover. The aim of the game is to keep the amount of time that a record is exposed to airborne dust and dirt particles to an absolute minimum. Outer and Inner Sleeves A worn stylus can permanently damage your records. If you’re unsure about the condition, play on the safe side and replace it. As a matter of practice, I replace my stylus at least once every year. How long a stylus will last depends on how many records you play, the condition of your records, and how well you maintain the stylus with regular cleaning. On average, a diamond stylus tip will typically last between 800 and 1000 playing hours. (That’s a best-case scenario of about four records per day). One thing to note, however, is to make sure you don’t press down too hard. While this brush has been designed specifically for vinyl records, jamming down on it can damage the grooves in the record and trap the gunk you’re trying to clean out. Keep your sweep nice and light and you’ll find your records are all the better for it.There is a certain magic and allure to vinyl that has seen the format endure much change over the last three decades. Purists love the format for its physical connection. And, with the right maintenance and care, vinyl records can go on delivering for many years to come – providing what I feel is certainly the most romantic way to consume music. To use the brush, place your record on your turntable and turn the power on. Then, hold your brush at a 90-degree angle and allow the record to spin under it. The idea is to move the brush from the inside grooves to the outside while it is spinning. Rankin, Dan. REVIEW: Explosions In The Sky – "Take Care.." blaremagazine.com. April 25, 2011.
