About this deal

This cookie, set by YouTube, registers a unique ID to store data on what videos from YouTube the user has seen. definitely more of a fine tuning than it is a complete overhaul, no surprise considering that the Blu-ray was awarded a perfect core for its 1080p organic and true to the digital source workmanship and characteristics. It is infinitely clean, noise is barely evident, and the encode work is spotless. Immediately apparent on its night time airborne prologue, the film looks fantastic. Detail is absolutely razor sharp, with the expected fine lines of clothing and skin textures all present and correct and nestling nicely alongside the pristine edges of the various locations and sets used throughout. Patterns from start to finish – be they intricate clothing designs or simply the foliage of the beautiful and lush scenery – are clearly distinct and look thoroughly natural. Maybe not quite best in class as say something like The Matrix Resurrections, but very good nonetheless. These are further unhindered by the pristine image source – no pesky grain to obscure any of the fine detail underneath.

Likewise, various gore effects are available for squeamish scrutiny for all they're worth. While not vast gains over the outstanding Blu-ray, the higher

stability in each region of light and dark. The image deepens natural greens while also making them brighter and more vivid. The same is said of Remarkable by how completely unremarkable they are for a major studio release in this day and age... Deleted & Extended Scenes – Four and a half minutes are included, though the scenes aren’t labeled/titled. The highlight of these would be Sari (Keri Russell) pulling a vacuum cleaner hose out of a certain part of a man’s anatomy. Lovely. Cocaine Bear delivers just about everything that one would expect of a movie called Cocaine Bear: it's gory, irreverent, and Primary Audio is offered in English 7.1 DTS-HD. Cocaine Bear was exhibited theatrically in Dolby Atmos, but Universal’s decision not to release a UHD means that they also didn’t include that mix here—like many studios, Universal generally doesn’t offer Atmos or DTS:X on standard Blu-ray. It’s a solid 7.1 mix, although there’s little doubt where the overhead channels would have been utilized for Atmos, such as a moment when the bear gets onto the roof of the ranger station. Still, this 7.1 mix is effective enough on its own, with plenty of surround engagement at all times, and there’s some prominent deep bass when it’s appropriate. The dialogue is always clear (for good or for ill), and Mark Mothersbaugh’s score is well-supported in the mix. Additional audio options include Spanish 7.1 DTS-HD, French 5.1 DTS, and English Descriptive Video Service, with optional English SDH, Spanish, and French subtitles.

bright sunlit areas and shadows is very well pronounced, and the characteristics of each are seamless and share the screen with excellent contrast So should fans just wait for the inevitable 4K release from Universal now? Is that what they’re thinking we want? All of which means that Cocaine Bear has to work pretty hard to do something that we haven’t seen before, and although we’ve seen animals affected by pesticides, microwaves, laser beams from space and bits of meteors that have dropped in the sea, we haven’t actually seen a wild beast go mad on narcotics. And to a point, we still haven’t because this is 2023 and filmmakers are not going to give actual cocaine to an actual bear (although had this been made in the 1970s by, say, John Milius or Werner Herzog then that is probably what would have happened).

All Roads Lead to Cokey: The Making of Cocaine Bear– Meet the hilarious ensemble brought together to bring the movie of what is soon to be the world’s most famous bear to life. Cocaine Bear was shot using the ARRIRAW 4.5K digital source with Arri Alexa LF and Arri signature Prime lenses. Theatrically it had a 4K digital intermediate which, while no other information could be found about what the source of this discs’ image could be, it seems reasonable to assume is the source of the 3840 x 2160p resolution image in a theatrically accurate 2.39:1 aspect ratio that also utilises 10-bit video depth, WCG and a HDR10 grade (no Dolby Vision), all of which has been encoded using the HEVC/H.265 video codec. UHD releases to the market just five months after the Blu-ray in what feels like a very consumer-unfriendly move.
