This manga just hit right-- having just recently adopted a new dog after losing ours in the winter, loving manga that has purpose/heart/thoughtfulness, and frankly reading it before bed and on the cusp of a fancier birthday six months from now. Doomsday With My Dog GN 1 - Review - Anime News Network

Hazra, Adriana (July 1, 2022). "Yen Press Announces Oshi no Ko, Your Forma Manga; Puella Magi Oriko Magica, K-ON! Omnibus Editions; 11 More Titles". Anime News Network . Retrieved July 1, 2022. being a 4-koma manga, I think the series fulfills its role very well. With one of the main characters being a dog, it's definitely very cute and charming when Haru-san just does cute dog things (CDDGT? Cute Dogs Do Cute Things? Is that even a thing?) The manga usually goes over many random topics, so it's fairly interesting every time and even occasionally thought-provoking. There are also occasional parts of the manga that are surprising sad (I actually cried on one of the chapters). The art style was cute, but the book couldn’t really hold my attention… I was mainly reading just to finish. The girl isn't the most likable protagonist--she's often selfish and has a mean streak--but the illustrations, especially of the dogs and other animals, are a delight. Haru the Shiba Inu is adorable, and he is joined by a variety of other animals ranging from cranes to tanuki. (I just wish the girl were nicer to them!) a b c "Sekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to Manga Gets Animated Manga Videos on YouTube". Anime News Network. June 7, 2022 . Retrieved June 7, 2022.Studio Ghibli has many worthy heroines, but the princess protagonist in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is by far the most stalwart, kind, and admirable. When everyone around her degrades into conflict, Nausicaä finds a way to broker peace and find common ground. As I mentioned before, this book is full-color, and its format is four-panel strips. There's not a huge amount of continuity, and although there are recurring characters (the aliens, Snow White the Shiba Inu who has a crush on Haru), there's no real sense of when things happen in proximity to one another. Storylines rarely take up more than three consecutive strips, and there's a sense that this is more interested in snapshots of life rather than telling a narrative. It's perhaps more comparable to newspaper comic strips than manga in terms of style. The art is pleasant to look at and the homages to 1950s science fiction tropes are a major highlight, while the variety of beings the characters encounter on their journey stands in nice contradiction to the majority of “teen girls after the world ends road trip” manga. In a notable difference from most publishers' approach to cultural notes, this volume puts them after each chapter, which I feel works better than throwing them all at the end. A young teenage girl wanders through a decrepit wasteland, void of civilization. She is alone, save for her faithful companion—Haru, a loyal Shiba Inu. Sekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to is a simple 4-koma gag manga about the journeys of an unnamed high school girl and her pet Shiba Inu Haru-san, as they traverse through a post-apocalyptic Japan. They get into random hijinks such as meeting aliens or other cryptids as they journey around Japan. Donyatsu is a surrealist and whimsical series of shorts about cats shaped like donuts. The world is desolate and empty of humans and animals but for the donut-cats. The cause of the catastrophe is unexplained, as the main cat awakens from a coma to find the world very changed.

Doomsday with My Dog | Manga | Yen Press

A post-apocalyptic four-panel comic series that’s at times philosophical, at times crude, and at times childishly silly, but consistently wonderfully drawn. There’s no overarching story arc, just a series of interactions with creatures – many of whom are fantastical – amid the ruins of civilization. Our main characters may look like a teenager and her dog, but they interact more like a comedy duo than a master and her pet. As she explores this wasteland and interacts with the few alien species that have found her ruined world, Haru keeps her company. He can speak to her and often gives her insight into humanity, reminding her of what matters most even in difficult times. The sole surviving human and Haru, her canine companion, wander a desolate wasteland after the destruction of civilization, but this is no dark doomsday tale. Haru can talk and makes sure his master stays one step ahead of post-apocalyptic pessimism! tsukkomi respectively, with Haru often making puns, begging for food, or simply being a lovable goofball. The girl is more level-headed and provides the metaphorical hammer that hits Haru over the head when he goes too far. A cast of side characters pop up here and there - more dogs, for example - but there are never any humans for obvious reasons. They add some flavour to the comedy and the philosophical discussions they have are genuinely thought-provoking and insightful, as well as being funny.Haru (the dog) is a sweet character, but “Master” (I don’t think we’re ever told her name) is kind of annoying. Waterfall Meditation / A Long Tale About a Giraffe / A Short Tale About a Giraffe / The Romantic Affairs of Giraffes All mankind has been wiped out, except for one 17-year-old Japanese girl. But that’s okay! Her Shiba Inu Haru remains as her loyal companion. Together, they traverse the ruins of civilization, encountering aliens, fox spirits, and other fantastic creatures along the way!

Doomsday with My Dog, Vol. 1 - Goodreads Doomsday with My Dog, Vol. 1 - Goodreads

Haru and his master, an unnamed girl, travel through apocalyptic Japan. Haru has a very philosophical mindset and asks many questions of his master. They encounter many other dogs and farming aliens. In Heroic Age, humanity is run off the face of the Earth and faces extinction. The princess Dhianeila is determined to find a savior to help them. She sees that savior in a boy called Age, who can transform into a giant. Doomsday with My Dog is a heart-warming anime that tells a story of survival, friendship, and the unbreakable bond between a girl and her benevolent dog. From the very first episode, the show manages to capture the audience's attention with its unique post-apocalyptic setting and relatable characters. Here are the North American anime, manga, and light novel releases for April.
