Now, the toy manufacturer has unveiled their latest range of Iron Maiden figures, with Eddie once again taking centre stage – and in our opinion they’re the best yet. The undead Eddie appears on all Iron Maiden album covers and has had the most diverse looks over the years. Considered by many fans to be a member of the band, he was created by Derek Riggs in the 1970s. The designer tried to find a band that would agree to adopt Eddie as their mascot for almost a year and a half until Maiden asked to meet him. Iron Maidens’ second album was released in 1981 and has one of the most iconic Eddie covers to date. Eddie is shown wielding a blood-splattered axe and this is depicted in great detail with this Pop.
Inspired by the punk movement, Eddie features a decaying face because the “youth of the time was being wasted and thrown away.” For the 2022 edition of POP!ALooza, Funko has unveiled a total of 22 POP figures, including POP Albums, new bands and singers and also a few nice nods to a purely fictional band that animation fans will particularly appreciate!
