Description

The police are entering new territory with this investigation as no-one has ever interviewed child murder suspects before. To ensure their testimonies will stand up in court, it’s important that the two boys understand the implications of telling lies and telling the truth and know the differences between right and wrong. Asking specific questions to prove these facts, they both pass. So the questioning commences. It's a heart-rending & disturbing book that can't fail to stir the reader's emotions, but Ralph has done James proud in documenting his story here so well. He has suffered years of emotional turbulence & daily nightmares as he struggles to come to terms with the barbaric murder of his gentle & innocent son, & it's by no means an easy read sometimes. I did wonder about James' mum Denise though, the torture she would have endured not only with losing her son in such a terrible way, but in also losing her husband while he shut down and couldn't open up to her. So many mums have cheeky little kids who run off in the exciting atmosphere of a shopping centre, but you don't expect them to be abducted by other children.

Retrieved 25 March 2010.I was crying so much I couldn't breathe. The thought of leaving the shopping centre without him was crushing. I knew that walking away from the place where he had gone missing, without any idea where he now was, meant that things were really bad. James had been right by my side and then he was gone forever.'

His death reverberated around the world and his killers became the youngest ever convicted murderers in UK legal history. Four minutes is all it took for them to lead James away from his mother to his death. Denise took up a tortuous legal battle for James, and it was her astonishing strength and love for her son that ultimately helped to change the way the law treats victims of crime. All I can say is that James for me is a symbol of beauty, innocence & perfection. He encapsulates everything that I love about life when I see his smiling face, or read about his giggly & energetic character.I wish the words I am going to write could do this book justice but they won't. It was one of the most difficult books I have ever read, but also one of the most inspiring. And any difficulties I had reading this or however upset it made me, that doesn't come close to how it must have felt to Ralph to have to relive the past 20 years all over again for this book. I hope it helped him writing this book. everyone remembers the headline news of this tragic story. I thought I knew, two young lads abducting a toddler and leaving him dead. I just couldn't comprehend it, too horrific for words. like the entire nation I watched, I read, I followed the up dates. He dismisses the boys as murderers but still wants to question them. Kirby believes they are looking for teenagers. So in a desperate bid for more information he asks Crimewatch to help. The programme is to be broadcast on Thursday 18 February. For the first time in the programme’s history an appeal is to be launched in the same week the murder has been committed. During the broadcast police release newer and better enhanced images of the two boys hoping that someone will be able to identify the two individuals. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q Smith, David James (3 April 2011).
