Looks great, thats all it has going for it. Hat switches and other knobs are sloppy, location of certain buttons could be better, The X52 Pro , on the other hand is excellent in all respects . all knobs and hat switches are constructed very well and in much better user friendly locations. Editor’s note: The following article is not intended to be a ranking, but is only to serve as a list of possible options. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary. Ergonomics*: some of the buttons are not placed well for long term usage. It's ok if you just need to hit every minute or so, but not as a 2 minute+ toggling spree. The hat controls on both controls are placed slightly out of alignment with my hands so that constant usage starts to hurt the thumb for both hands. The throttle is a bit better placed but sometimes difficult to move the 2 smaller hats due to tight spaces. The X52 feels much more "natural". This is my -1 reason for not being 5-stars I did a bit of a research. 1st i wanted to buy Saitek Pro Flight X56 Rhino or Saitek X52 Pro but i saw people are complaining about poor quality. The included HOTAS configuration software gives you 189 programmable controls. The 13 axes, 5 HATS, and 31 programmable buttons can be customized over three modes, while the dead bands can be adjusted with the response curves to fine-tune axes. Also, to assign any button to any number of in-sim commands. You can even assign mouse and keyboard commands, from single-key inputs to timed and macro commands.

Not only is an advanced H. O. T. A. S like X56 mirroring what you see on screen in the latest games, the controls are also confidently in your hands. This, as well as the immense number and sensitivity of controls, make X56 ideal for head-mounted displays (HMD) and VR gaming. Put on a headset and grab onto X56 for endless adventure. It isn't bad per se but its design does mean that it is rather limited (especially when dealing with twin engine aircraft). These days, even entry level HOTAS setups really should be twin throttle at a minimum. Sometimes, some random actions just occurred during gameplay, such as opening the galaxy map and engaging the frame shift drive. Sometimes this happened when we first started playing, and at other times after a few hours of gameplay. An internet search pulled up threads about this. Seemingly the unit’s high-power draw could be the issue, even though we connected our Logitech X56 to an aftermarket USB 3.0 PCIe card. Whatever the cause, unplugging and re-plugging the USB cables fixes the issue; at least until the next time it happens.

I am interested in buying my first HOTAS. I've been looking at second-hand and found the following (compared with retail price) Read Related Article: Logitech Harmony 700 Review – A Deep Dive What We Don’t Like About Logitech X56 i managed to get mine to work better in fact it doesn't do it anymore since i turned on chat on to tabs.

I bought Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS 9.1.2017. Since then it has been in use almost daily with ED and some fight simulators. I do not need to use keyboard or mouse at all during flight in ED. I play Elite Dangerous and thinking of buying Star Citizen. I like all the switches and knobs of the x56 but it is my first so I am a bit reluctant to pay the higher price. So there's not a huge number of handy buttons, but on the base, there is not only a great deal to make up for it (including ones dedicated to flaps and throttle), but there's also the option to mode switch up to two levels with two functional modes and button shift. This gives the Raptor Mach 2 an edge, despite the buttons being a little awkward to get to if you've got your hands full, achieve 29 programmable actions Our goal is to help people expand their knowledge of the various forms of technology including PCs, laptops, and much more so that they may have the best possible experience when computing. I own a X56 (and the X52, and X45 before it). The X56 is a good "mid-range" HOTAS in the sense that it offers a really solid control layout and can be quite versatile. That being said, where it is strong in versatility, it is weak in overall quality.Logitech X56 has two rotary knobs on the throttle’s base that, like its dials, can be mapped to anything. However, we couldn’t find any real benefit in doing so. I bought Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS right after it became available and I can only say I've been very happy with the product. Granted it's not as hefty as the x52 pro, but after the initial "getting used to it" stage I have nothing to complain about. Similarly, we found that the conical hat above the d-pad style is positioned just a little too far for the thumb, so we didn’t use it much. The thumb trigger which sat next to it was also difficult to reach.
