About this deal

The machine produced some amusing squeaking sounds while processing the leafy greens, but that is just part of the process and still more pleasant to the ear than the drill-like noise of some centrifugal juicers. The Sonicare brush head replacement subscription is all about bringing convenience to your healthy smile.

However, the citrus fruit resulted in a lot of juice, with only a light layer of foam. The use of the fibre filter resulted in a juice that was quite thin, with only a little pulp. The amount of ejected pulp was minimal in relation to the amount of fruit and only slightly moist, while the drink itself was intensely citrusy and refreshing. Note that the machine isn’t terribly noisy in operation, unlike loud centrifugal juicers, and it’s possible to have a conversation while it’s doing its thing. Turn fruits and vegetables into healthy drinks that you and your family will enjoy. Homemade juices with fresh ingredients can contain up to 90% * of the nutrients in fruits and vegetables. Next I juiced two medium-sized Granny Smith apples, which yielded 150ml of juice, with a little bit a pulp. This is a relatively standard result. I achieved excellent results juicing leafy greens, with a 100g of standard shredded supermarket kale producing 70ml of juice. There was a tiny bit of sediment, but this wasn’t particularly noticeable when mixed into the juice.Wash the vegetables or fruits, remove peels which you would not normally eat and cut them into pieces that fit into the feeding tube if necessary The Avance HR1922 is also dishwasher-safe – although after the pre-clean rinse you’ll unlikely need to use it.

While making several different juices, I had to empty the bin often. This wasn’t a massive chore, but it could prove annoying if you’re wanting to make several glasses of juice in one go – perhaps if you’re juicing for the whole family. Interestingly, the two speed settings available here don’t apply to different types of fruit and veg. Instead, setting “1” gives you clear juice, while the slightly noisier and more powerful setting “2” offers juice with up to 50% extra fibre. However, if you’re particularly interested in juicing leafy greens, you’d be better off with the Philips Avance MicroMasticating Juicer HR1947. And for those looking for more frills, the similarly priced Sage Nutri Juicer Plus comes with a puree extractor, while the Panasonic MJ-L500 Slow Juicer has a frozen dessert function. Verdict I started by making the ‘Green Eyecatcher’ with cucumber, spinach, water and honey. The feed tube was quite narrow, so the cucumber had to be halved to fit in the chute; even then, pushing it through required some effort. It produced a good amount of juice and minimal, relatively dry pulp. Similarly, the spinach went through well, leaving little residue inside the juicing unit – although this may have been a result of the water washing it through to finish.Loud - this product has been scientifically assessed and found to be louder than most in this category. Masticating juicers – those that ‘chew’ fruit and veg rather than shred and spin it – have traditionally been unwieldy machines that require dedication when it comes to cleaning. However, the Avance is different, with much of its design geared towards minimal maintenance and ease of use. Thanks to the unique MicroMasticating technology, Philips Slow Juicers grind and open up the cells to extract maximum nutrition.
