The author of this book is exceptionally good at describing exactly how the characters look and painting a very good picture of them in your head. Another thing that I like about this book is when you think that someone is good, and then the book makes you change your mind and consider Preview of a Skintaker/thade soben x female!reader I’m working on! It’s pretty silly but also very disturbing- The main change came between the sixth book, GHOST HUNTER, and last year’s VIPER’S DAUGHTER, because the story in VIPER begins when Torak and Renn are seventeen summers old, and have been living with each other (and the wolves) for two summers. So that’s quite a big change, and one I had to handle sensitively, giving older readers hints about how Torak and Renn are getting on as a mated pair, without grossing out ten-year-old readers who don’t want anything too romantic. As for SKIN TAKER, not too much has changed, as it begins only a few moons after the end of VIPER’S DAUGHTER; but there is a constant tension between Torak the loner and Renn, who grew up in a clan. I find that really interesting to explore. The characterisation is as strong as ever, making the reader instantly invested in their lives and the choices each has to make on their journey. Relationships between the Clans and suspicion of 'outsiders' and difference also create tension and offer plenty to discuss and think about. This is an excellent book filled with chaos and turmoil as Torak risks everything to save the whole world. I had never read Michelle Paver's books before but as soon as I finished Skin Taker, I was desperate to read more of her work. I like the way that Michelle Paver writes. Sometimes it’s not in full sentences but I think that helps with the speed and the mood of the story. As a big fan of the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series, Skin Taker is one of the best and doesn’t

The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness 9 Books Collection Set

The story starts in midwinter, when disaster strikes the Forest. Demons thrive. The clans battle to survive: do they turn on each other, or pull together? Torak, Renn and Wolf find their whole world in turmoil, and it’s up to them to save it. This is particularly hard for Torak – who, being especially close to the Forest, feels its devastation as no one else can. One thing I have thought of while reading these new instalments as an adult, is the attitude towards meat consumption shown in this book. It's funny, because we live in a world where meat consumption is reducing - for both ethical and environmental reasons - but Paver's characters are of course avid meat-eaters, being based on hunter-gatherer populations. Instead of seeming controversial, I actually think these books demonstrate a more harmonious way of living with nature. Their meat consumption is a far more sustainable practice than anything in our way of life - and this isn't just limited to food. Just the characters' general outlook towards the forest and their attitude of not taking more than they need, is a fantastic thought-point for children that is not presented in a preachy way at all, but in a completely natural way to the story. In terms of the review, I am digressing, but for me it I'd wanted to highlight now I think these books represent how essential and important reading is for children, as it allows them to come across different ideas, ideologies, cultures, behaviours, etc., than they might do in their everyday lives, and that this can only help inform their worldview for the better. Every time I read one of these books, it doesn't matter which one, there is always such a sense of safety, of coming home, and honestly it's a feeling I cannot get enough of. Even in the darkest moments, the Forest is a welcome respite from the real world. I can almost smell the tang of pine blood, hear the voices of the trees as they chatter among themselves as I pass. A series of five meetings between some ships from the Candle Cove canon/fanon and an extra look into the relationships in the chapter Language: English Words: 2,992 Chapters: 3/? Kudos: 8 Hits: 153

In the SEBTAW episode " Mrs. Skin-Taker", the Skin-Taker is seen with a wife named Mrs. Skin-Taker. She complains that her husband has "changed" since they got married and threatens to divorce him. However, this episode is revealed to be all a part of a dream, and therefore Mrs. Skin-Taker does not exist.
