About this deal

The likelihood is that you have only ever cooked in pots and pans over a burner. The Coleman Camp Oven opens up the possibility to cook baked goods. If your portable camp oven comes with specialised pots, make sure you use them. Most are designed to optimise cooking and cleanup for your specific unit. BTU, or British Thermal Unit, is a measurement of heat output. More specifically, it’s the amount of energy needed to heat 1 pound of water by 1 degree Fahrenheit. In the context of camping, it serves as a standard for determining the performance potential of a gas stove. While BTUs shouldn’t be looked at as the sole indicator of power—cooking surface area can impact the flame’s actual intensity—it’s a great way of comparing stoves overall. If you’re used to a 10,000-BTU burner and are eyeing a 20,000-BTU-per-burner model like the Camp Chef Everest 2X, we can guarantee you that the difference will be noticeable. Camp Chef's Everest 2X is impressively powerful with two 20,000-BTU burners Making chapattis is as easy as it can get. Mix flour with water until you get the right substance, make thin patties of them and bake them on the griddle. They are delicious when fresh and still warm, but turn dry and hard as stone when stored for the next day.

If you already have a good cooking station that works on liquid or solid fuel, then you might want to think about some of those simple folding ovens that use some external heat. They will do the job. Indeed, the limited space the oven takes when folded makes the oven a good buy, also for a small overland vehicle such as our Land Cruiser. Delivered Monday to Saturday 8am-8pm, excluding bank holidays. Once despatched you will receive updates from the courier.

Best of the Rest

Keeping the temperature steady has remained the challenge. When there is wind we bake inside the Land Cruiser, putting the stove on a wooden cutting board to protect the storage compartment lid from the heat. Thats incredible! What a great idea. I also might have one of these old bags lying around. I might give that a try. You are not scared of setting a fire to the bag? Reply I think that if we were having an indoor propane setup we would maybe be less enthusiastic about the oven and would have evolved more like you have. We haven’t been in touch with much Dutch oven users and while we have tried some basic pot-in-a-campfire recipes, we have opted for a pressure cooker [ours is also anodized!]. Camping in high altitudes and little wood around for us makes the choice for a pressure cooker more obvious. And since space is always an issue we don’t want to add something that we would barely use… for now. You know things change and as we are driving around South America now we don’t find the need, but that might change if we are driving in another continent… This stove/range is designed to work with 20 lb bulk-style propane tanks or 16.4 oz disposable propane cylinders. It can heat the oven up to 425 degrees F (218 C). The overall size is 21 x 17.5 x 14.5 inches (53 x 44 x 37 cm). The weight when assembled is 36 lb (16.3 kg). Regarding functionality, you have ovens that can be described as general-purpose types, and the other group designed especially for pizzas.

Obviously, the first step is to decide about the type, with or without a burner. There are big differences in size and weight that are related to this issue, and with this also comes the question of functionality. The Camp Chef oven is more user-friendly not just because of the see-through front but also because of the lower temperature. It doesn’t get hotter than 400ºF, so if you’re cooking something that generally requires higher temperatures you can just put it in the oven and forget about it. The baking area is 26 x 12.5 inches (66 x 32 cm) and the total dimensions are 32 x 14 x 9 inches (81 x 36 x 23 cm). The oven weighs 41 lb (18.6 kg). With the Camp Chef oven, you get a more reasonable max temperature of 400ºF. That’s lower than you get in most household ovens, but still high enough that you’ll be able to cook anything you want. And since 400ºF is not too high, you can spend less time monitoring the temperatures of the oven and more time enjoying your camping trip.

Joining the Cascade Classic above is another well-rounded budget design from Coleman: their Triton Camping Stove. The tabletop design features two strong, highly adjustable 11,000 BTU burners that run on a standard 16-ounce propane canister (adapters are available to make it compatible with a larger tank). With decent simmer control and solid output at full tilt, the Coleman is one of only a few stoves in its price range that’s capable enough for cooking diverse meals. Last but not least, its 11-pound weight and manageable size make the Triton easy to transport in a car and store at home. On the other hand, if you’re more worried about user-friendliness, convenience and just generally enjoying the cooking experience even when you’re camping, there’s no doubt in my mind that the Camp Chef oven is the better option. We don’t use the oven as much as we did in the beginning. This has two reasons: we replaced our bread for breakfast with oatmeal and in Central Asia & Russia you can buy excellent bread. The need to bake our own is zero right now. Portable camp ovens run on alternative power sources, so they don’t require electricity to function. Some models simply bake your food while others include range-style burners on top so you can simultaneously prepare sides.

About GO Outdoors Job Opportunities JD Sports Fashion PLC Modern Slavery Report GO Outdoors Partners Discover FreedomThere is not a lot to compare this oven to. The Camp Chef Outdoor Oven is a different product. It has it’s own burners built in, and therefore is a stand alone oven. While the Camp Chef Portable Outdoor Oven is self-serving with a butane tank, the Coleman oven depends on another stove. Both of the above ovens are very nice, but the Coleman adds a little different twist. http://lghttp.16485.nexcesscdn.net/808325/mage/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/d/o/docover-lines.jpg Coming in a handy folded down state and an affordable price, it’s worth any outdoors person taking a closer look at this product. It can easily become part of your camping kit. Setup and Design Features
