Thanks for the news about the DS723+. Sad to hear that there won’t be a chip with imbedded graphics on it, so I guess that I will either have to wait for the DS923+, or buy the DS920+. Nicely done here Robbie. This confirms my gut feeling to wait for embedded graphics in the 23 series. It’s the same shit like ds923+ for home users. Also the expensive Synology rebransed componenrs (ssd, ram, 10gbpe)

DS723+ NAS 2-Bay Revealed – NAS Compares Synology DS723+ NAS 2-Bay Revealed – NAS Compares

Even in its basic configuration, the Synology DiskStation DS723+ network storage is designed for performance. And it does so in a compact form with very little to dislike if you can afford one. There’s no denying that the Synology DS723+ is currently one of the fastest NAS devices to hit the market in 2023. With the ability to increase the unit’s memory to 32GB, NVMe storage volumes and 10GbE ethernet capability Synology have successfully future proofed the DS723+. I’m a committed Synology user for the last 10 years and this coupled with the hard drive compatibility issues will finally see me cross over to QNAP. I’m interested in DVR functionality as well. I have 4KUHD, BluRay 1080P, and most importantly DVR files from a HDHomeRun network tuner. Especially the Mpeg2 and Transcode while recording performance. Both are multi-bay, RAID enabled devices NAS devices that support JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1 and SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID), as well as supporting the very latest SATA based Hard Drives from brands like WD Red, Seagate Ironwolf, Western Digital UltraStar and Seagate EXOs media. Though the full extent of compatibility of the latest 20TB and 22TB HDDs varies officiallyIt runs DSM 7 right out of the box. You won't be able to run DSM 6 on it, not that there are many reasons you want to do that. All things considered, the DS723+ is a compact powerhouse for a home or small business that needs a modest amount of storage space and essential redundancy. So disappointing…Whats the point of buying a new Synology? Why are Synology NAS hardware so underpowered? The performance of the mail system will slightly decrease in high-availability mode due to data synchronization between the two servers. Be reasonable, attentive, and respectful! (No typo-laden, broken-thought, or cryptic comments, please!)

Synology’s managers are smoking the wrong pot, from an Stellar loved brand NAS, it becomes disgusting and a problem for those that rely on legacy Synology units, not few people are delaying to upgrade until Synology stepdown all those idiotic “premium” policies, theyre wrong from the moment they think they where the Apple of Nas Appliances. This needs to be said in every single video about any new Synology NAS as this is extremely anti consumer English, Deutsch, Français, Italiano, Español, Dansk, Norsk, Svenska, Nederlands, Русский, Polski, Magyar, Português do Brasil, Português Europeu, Türkçe, Český, ภาษาไทย, 日本語, 한국어, 繁體中文, 简体中文The ports are also the same, which is a shame for 2023. Sure, Synology is offering the optional 10Gb LAN expansion card, but where are the two integrated 2.5Gb ports? There are still two 1Gb LAN ports brought across from the DS720+. If the Synology DiskStation DS1522+ is anything to go by, however, that 10Gb link is going to be rapid. If you bummed out about Google’s policy change with Google Mail/Photos, Synology have their own solution called Synology Mail Plus and Photo Station catering for this exact need. Synology Office offers an alternative to Google Office/Office 365 and Surveilance Station offers NVR capabilities to your NAS allowing a central control center for all your IP camera feeds. Transform your Synology device into a full-featured video management system for a wide range of compatible IP cameras.

Synology DS423+ 4 Bay Desktop NAS Storage Server

Overall, the software support in DSM on the DS723+ is going to be very good and the depth of the hardware available means that although it will be a pinch less suitable for highly graphical tasks, it DOES have alot more capability in file handling and transmission – which is precisely what Synology want for this device and makes it increasingly appealing to traditional storage users. Equally, the architecture of this CPU inside the DS723+ allows its resources to be spread a great deal further (threads and simultaneous tasks) towards using the full range of services that DSM includes. The cloud/hybrid services too will greatly benefit form this architecture too and once again mean that this Synology NAS will bring a tremendous sense/feeling of ‘local’ storage to this network/remote server. Finally, it is worth highlighting that the DS723+ and it’s R1600 CPU benefit form more PCI lanes at PCIe3 rather than the PCIe2 of it’s predecessor, with allows better bandwidth availability to the hardware resources onboard (such as those m.2 NVMe bays) The Synology DS723+ NAS – Release Date and Price? I understand that Synology have to hit an appropriate price point with their 2023 NAS devices, but for the same price one can buy a considerably more powerful QNAP. I would like to have a NAS with Synology software and more powerful hardware. I would be happy to pay more for that. Unfortunately, Synology don’t seem to offer this in their latest hardware. it’s a good thing I bought the TS-464 and didn’t wait for the new Synology NAS. I hope I don’t regret this decision in the future when I get deadbolted xD The network storage Synology DiskStation DS723+ is a NAS empty housing with two bays, which is tailored to the use in small companies and freelancers. In addition to high performance specs, durability is also important here. The test examines how well the NAS system keeps both promises. Specs & Features I can’t believe Synology has made this mistake ! No igp… Among the x22 and x23 models, none of them has an igp ? I will keep my DS920+ …

Please select Synology memory modules for optimum compatibility and reliability. Synology will not provide complete product warranty or technical support if non-Synology memory modules are used for memory expansion. Regarding data concerning tests with RAM expansion, all memory slots are installed with the maximum capacity of supported RAM. When it comes to Hard Drive compatibility, the compatibility lists of the DS723+ and DS720+ are a little different. The DS720+ features several more compatibility drives (eg the likes of the WD Red 14TB Red Pro or Seagate Ironwolf Pro) that do not appear on R1600-powered 22/23 gene systems like the DS1522+. Now the DS723+ full HDD/SSD compatibility list is still unavailable, but newer generation devices from Synology released in the 2022 series and afterwards have been having an odd habit of not listing many 3rd party drives above 16/18TB (including their own HAT5300 drives and 3rd party Surveillance drives such as WD Purple and Skyhawk, and the enterprise tiered drives). Now, the argument could easily be that testing and certification are not full completed yet, but there is no avoiding that, as it stands, the DS720+ is seemingly compatible with more drive types. We have performed ALOT of tests on the DS1522+ (same architecture as the DS723+ and DS923+, but 5 Bays) with WD Red/Gold 18TB, 20TB and 22TB drives and found them to work perfectly, yet they do not feature on a compatibility list, so when you install them in your DSM 7.1 (DSM 7.2 in Q1 2023), you might see a brief alert from your system about using non-compatible drives on your Synology. Again, this is a very small point and every possibility that it will iron out in the messaging from the brand as the DS723+ establishes itself, but it is certainly a point worth highlighting. The Synology DS723+ vs DS720+ NAS – Ports and Connections Synology today announced the official US availability of its model year 2023 dual-bay extension-ready NAS server, the DiskStation DS723+ -- that's DS723 Plus. With the DS723+, Synology is solidifying its position in the home category. Between the DS1522+, DS923+, and now the DS723+, there's a good selection of servers targeted at home users, and the best part is that they share the same Ryzen R1600 hardware, making the purchasing decision a little easy. The DS923+ and DS723+ have the added benefit of utilizing the M.2 slots for storage, and that is a huge deal — considering just how long it took the brand to roll it out.
