Greater-Scope Villain: Crane the Big Bad of the film, but he is another cog in Chronos' system and still working for Gouo/Guyot, another Zoalord presumably equal in rank to Balcus from the last movie. As a Metal Gear Solid completionist, watching Guyver 2 is up there with watching every movie written by David Hayter, the star of the Guyver 2. Hayter as you may or may not know, is the iconic voice of Solid Snake, the lead character of the Metal Gear Solid series. So along with watching X-Men 1 or what have you, there’s this gargantuan beast of ultra-cheese and real life anime cliches. But somehow, mainly due to the sheer amount of costumed monsters, I found it charming. Its boring often, sure, but it’s two hours of faux alien conspiracy nutzoid Kung fu monster fights, and I just can’t give that a negative review in my heart of hearts.

In truth he was a Chronos agent sent to keep an eye on the dig team because what they were excavating proved to be an intact Creator ship containing a Guyver Unit that's later shown to be damaged. Although most of the acting isn't very impressive, The Guyver: Dark Hero is a well-paced and immensely entertaining sci-fi action film with a solid and likeable lead performance from David Hayter, well-shot and expertly choreographed fight scenes, terrific make-up and creature effects, an interesting story, and competent direction from Steve Wang. I bought this the other week and watched it. I expected to enjoy it with the warmth of nostalgia whilst realising it was a pretty bad film.

It's true he's a better voice actor than actor, but I still enjoyed the movie.Mythology Gag: Crane's Guyver Zoanoid armor has the same color scheme and spiky motif as Guyver III with Guyver II's damaged control metal. Like Both Screaming Mad George, Steve Wang was adept at creating monster effects, and Wang worked on the prosthetic effects for such films as Hellboy II, Alien: Resurrection and Predator. Unfortunately, neither George nor Wang has much skill at directing actors, and The Guyver is full of stilted, sometimes hilarious dialogue (“I’m sure the inventors of the atom bomb didn’t know what they were doing either”), and some blank-faced acting from some otherwise okay performers. It had been three years since the world had been exposed to the Americanization of a manga classic, some loved it,other despised it. The movie was inappropriately funny or unfunny,badly written and directed. The only redeeming feature where the really cool creature effects helmed by Co-Director Steve Wang. The fight scenes are AMAZING!!! Bloody, brutal & fast paced stunning fight sequences, some of the best creature fights in movies, like an Adult version of a Power Rangers episode or movie. What is all done here & on display with it's tiny budget is truly incredible!!! A great piece of filmmaking.
