Ok first let’s talk about this music. 2023 is already weird y’all. I never paid much attention to Yachty, but I was always impressed by his interviews. This is AOTY so far, and the thought of getting something better than this is exciting to me bc this is flawless. The pressing is great, also surprisingly good quality for such a widely released album. I actually like the cover. I feel like the ugliness of the image is magnified by the beauty of the album. I could be off base, but I think Boat is showing us a world of possibility. The cover represents reallity: it’s ugly, stuffy, fraudulent and devoid of humanity. With the music we can see how it could be if we wanted to change badly enough. Idk. I could be way off base. I can’t stop listening to it. On December 25, 2022, the album would unfortunately be leaked in its entirety — the album was alleged to drop next month along with a Concrete Boys mixtape. Four days later, Yachty would go on AMP to confirm that the title was in-fact not Sonic Ranch. The tentative title was mistaken for the studio the album was recorded in.
