About this deal

The lamp features an incredible amount of small LED lamps that blast light from above down on your painting station. It has two LED bars that can rotate, so you can shine light on the exact thing you want. The lamp is also made in a way where the light does not “bleed” out from the lamp, so it mainly shines the light on the thing you want.

I like the white, because of how clean it looks. The swing arm has a smooth operation and the plastic LED housing feels light but solid. This is a sturdy product. If there was any concern, it might be the springs, which tend to get squeaky over time. There are four brightness settings for the Neatfi XL task lamp. It can be set to 25%, 50%, 75% and full 100% brightness. For most hobby work, I’ve been using my light at 100% brightness. I get the most contrast and visual detail at this setting. It is flexible enough to be where you want it to be, so the light can come from above instead of from the side. Adaptable Luminosity – Experience personalized lighting with four distinct brightness settings (100%, 75%, 50%, or 25%), suitable for a range of tasks and ambiances.

I skipped the 25% brightness because it didn’t register well with the other lighting behind me. But, at 50% brightness you can already see all the details and colors on the desk. Let us look a bit at what a good lamp for painting minis actually needs to do. 1. The colour of the white light needs to show the actual colours of the model (it should throw a white light in the Kelvin 5000 range with good CRI) The most notable feature of an architect lamp is its adjustability. It has both a head and arm that swivels, letting you control not only the height but also the direction of the light. They have a lampshade that helps control the direction of the light, and the shade can vary in size. With some architect lamps, the shade is wider, while others keep it more in a circular design.

While some of the products in this article might be review copies sent to us by manufacturers, they have no say in what we write about them. In all these categories for an ideal desk lamp for miniature painting and model work, the Neatfi XL is amazing. Preferably you want no shadows from outside objects on your model while painting. To reduce this you will needbig coverage of bright light and getting something that sits above your paint station instead of being on the side of it (so you avoid casting shadows on the mini with your hands, brush and so on). Zero discomfort to my eyes after long periods of working under the light. I've never felt more comfortable assembling, painting 28mm miniatures, and diorama building. This lamp comes with a stylish clamp that doesn't leave a mark on your furniture, making it a great fit for a wide range of desk types. You'll get 2,200 lumens cast across a wide area for plenty of light while you're working. You can adjust the brightness level to four different settings to fit your needs throughout the day.

Today’s architect lamps often attach to your desk or table using a clamp rather than having a base they set on. This keeps your workspace clear for you to spread your work out, while also giving you the freedom to place it where you want it. This clamp is typically the same color as the rest of the lamp to make sure it better blends with the surrounding décor. Versatile Workspace Lighting – With a robust 2,500 lumens, the Neatfi XL brilliantly lights up your workspace, making it perfect for reading, crafting, intricate tasks, drawing, sewing, studying, miniature painting, and other detailed artwork. Easy. The lamp comes in two parts. The first part is the clamping mechanism, which uses a screw-in clamp for the side of a tabletop or desk. The second part is the lamp assembly. The swing arm has springs in it to keep the lamp’s position. There is a pivot insert that goes into the clamp (after it has been attached to your desk). I have one of those lamps with built in magnkfication, but the light itself is warm with is less than ideal. ReplyEver find yourself fiddling around with the models, trying to get the spot you are painting into the perfect light? This is because the position of your lamp and your hands are causing shadows to fall on your miniature. Do you find it hard to see your miniature when you paint? Are shadows falling on the space you are trying to paint? Do you have to lean really close to your miniature to see what is going on? Well, then you might have a crappy miniature painting lamp. The hinges seem ok quality - not super high end but not easily damaged either. A thing to note here is that the base and middle hinges are not tension adjustable; probably not a huge deal if you don't plan adding things to your light (I don't) - hopefully they doesn't loosen over time because there's no way to tighten it. It does seem to be holding pretty steadily though, over the course of the last week I haven't had it droop or change position. The hinge closest to the lamp has a tightening knob on it, so when you want to adjust the angle of the lamp you need to first loosen it a bit, adjust, and then retighten the knob. The knob is not made out of the best material and I wish a slightly better material was chosen here. I've included some photos of the max angles at which you can rotate it to give you an idea of the rotation amount. when turned to the max angle to the right side, it becomes a bit hard to tighten the knob due to the proximity to the lamp, but you can manage to tighten it if you pretighten a little before reaching the max angle. A hobby desk lamp should work so well you don’t even need to think about it. When you turn on your Neatfi desk lamp you’ll find a soft light emanating from LEDs (not light bulbs) housed behind a diffuser. The diffuser with the LED configuration provide a cool, natural light that is comfortable to painting miniatures with.
