I "only" need a 600+ mm top-notch lens (Nikon 600 f/4 in my case) to obtain equivalent images, for 10x the price and 10X the weight. The Coolpix P950 camera also supports RAW (NRW) image capture, a capability usually reserved for full-frame mirrorless cameras and DSLRs. This function allows users to take full advantage of the many advanced processing and editing programs on the market.

Joining the viewfinder is a 921k-dot, 3.2-inch articulating screen, which has the same resolution as its predecessor, but is a little larger (3.2-inches, compared to 3.0). It seems odd that in 2020, a screen without touch-sensitivity has entered the market, and it’s a shame not to see this improvement compared with the older model. Still it’s useful that you can position the screen any which way you like, and is particularly handy for video recording and taking selfies. It’s also good to be able to turn the screen to face inwards to protect it when on the move. This camera is fine for those who are prepared to put up with a tiny sensor/camera phone quality. Just not for me.' Rinse repeat.W]: Approx.50 cm (1 ft 8 in.) to infinity, [T]: Approx.5.0 m (16 ft 5 in.) to infinity, Macro close-up: [W]: Approx.1 cm (0.4 in.) to infinity, [T]: Approx.5.0 m (16 ft 5 in.) to infinity (All distances measured from center of front surface of lens) The Nikon Coolpix P950 is a camera for photographers who always want to zoom in a little bit farther, without having to spend the money on an interchangeable lens camera and a big, long telezoom lens. It builds on its predecessor's functions, with thoughtful additions like Raw capture, 4K video, and a microphone input. 285mm (1,600mm equivalent), f/6.3, 1/640-second, ISO 100

A 2359k-dot viewfinder includes a sensor for automatically detecting when the camera has been lifted to the eye. This 'finder is one of the key improvements made to the P950 over its predecessor, being over twice the resolution. It’s a much better experience and gives you a decent view of the scene in front of you. The problem with the P1000 is that the VR is simply inadequate beyond about 1,500mm-ish. It is a very difficult camera to shoot at 3,000mm. It requires a tripod with gear head, VR turned off and a shutter speed of around 1/500 and really wants to be shot at base ISO. So basically either you shoot the moon or static objects in bright daylight.Micro-USB connector (Do not use any USB cable other than the included UC-E21 USB Cable.), Hi-Speed USB Electronic viewfinder, 1 cm (0.39-in.), approx. 2359k-dot OLED with the diopter adjustment function (-3 to +3 m-¹) kkoba - That isn't necessarily the case. There are plenty of budget cameras that can equal or beat more expensive ones in terms of image quality. The main reason why megazoom cameras appeal is not IMO because of their price, but because they offer so much versatility in a single product. So it would be fair to compare a P950 with a RX10iv or a Panasonic FZ1000ii, or Canon FX70HS, but not with a DSLR setup.

I used to have a P900 and moved to a P1000 which I prefer, although the P1000 is somewhat large and heavy. Since then the P950 has been released. I have been wondering whether to sell the P1000 and move to a P950. I am aware of the differences in spec, but how do the cameras compare for image quality and Optical Stabilisation etc. The flash settings on the Nikon Coolpix P950 are Auto, Auto with Red-eye reduction, Fill Flash, Manual (Full, 1/2, 1/4 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64), Slow Sync, Rear-curtain Sync and Flash Off. These shots of a white coloured wallNo way I could handhold the 200 to 500mm lens on my D7500...but the VR in this P950 is Nikons best ever...they claim it...and I experienced it. While Chris and Jordan's P950 video review fell prey to the classic blunder of believing conspiracy theories about the earth being flat, I actually used the 2000mm lens to prove that the earth does, in fact, have a curvature. It was very easy, really! Magnification of Dynamic Fine Zoom is calculated from the combined total of optical and electronic zooms at the maximum wide-angle position. It's this portability and zoom reach versus image quality trade-off that you'll need to seriously consider if you're deciding whether or not to buy a P950. While this is a camera that's capable of getting your closer to a distant subject than almost any other camera can, this is also its only selling point. Strip away the colossal zoom and the P950 performs much like a basic point-and-shoot camera, and one which even a mid-range camera phone will thrash in terms of image quality.
