When it comes to the right fit it is also worth considering different laces. Many players choose to have one pair for winter and another, lighter pair for summer to keep them fresh and suit different requirements. PUMA have always been a front runner when pushing the boundaries to design trendy yet functional golf shoes and the GS-Fast, an update on their much talked about RS-G Golf Shoes, certainly continues that trend. These are a statement shoe for those players wanting to complete a streetwear look on the course. Admittedly these shoes will not be everyone's cup of tea and we did get several comments about them from playing partners and other members of the golf course when we first tested them out. The GS-Fast comes with a wide rubber outsole that is littered with a ton of small rubber studs. That means these shoes are better used as a summer golf shoe but still performed very well in slightly soft autumnal conditions with their grippy outsole providing solid traction on the turf. They are also completely waterproof and are very easy to wipe down after your round. The shoe’s upper is unique. Similar to waffle-weave patterning, the EXO Shell is made up of an engendered mesh with a TPU film that gives the PROADAPT ALPHACAT excellent support, structure and waterproofing. I also quite like what PUMA has done at the top of the shoe with its fabric strap and additional grey padded area around the top of the Achilles and underneath the ankle. This is the best way of testing a golf shoe as using it in the real world over a number of weeks allows us to see how they perform when variables change like weather, ground conditions, different stances and lies, and so on.

My one and only gripe (although very small) is the EXOSHELL upper. The plastic/TPU shell on the shoe just feels…well…like plastic? I’m not a fan of cheap-feeling materials, and while the EXOSHELL does a phenomenal job at keeping water out, it does make the shoe feel a little cheaper overall. Spikeless golf shoes offer off-course versatility. They are perfect for driving in the car to the golf course, playing a round, and then driving home again because they are usually light and comfortable, but most won't offer as much traction as a spiked shoe. Both are good options, however, recently I’ve been favoring the low-profile ride of the Alphacat. This is definitely a personal preference thing. If you’re in need of the MOST cushion, you should look elsewhere. But like a guard shoe on the basketball court, the Alphacat is all about feeling connected to the ground. Traction

This is easily one of the best spikeless tractions I’ve ever experienced. It’s funny how different shoes with different patterns can still perform so well. In contrast to the FootJoy Fuel (one of my favorites), the traction looks vastly different but performs just as well. Fit When I came of the 18th hole I made a point to jot down a couple of notes into my phone. Comfort-wise, PROADAPT ALPHACAT was as good at the end of the round as it was at the start and felt like it would be the same if I played another round that same day. In terms of stability I also noted that while the shoe’s upper could feel a bit rigid for some people I like how it never once felt sloppy or loose on the golf course.
