What's OP? "¾" thread of the union nut" - that makes sense, but am I looking to replace the radiator tails as well then? What am I going to do if I measure the hole, aren't I going to attach the valve to the tail anyway? I understand that the fitting on the radiator is 1/2" BSP, while the radiator tails are 1/2" Taper Thread. They do if they (compression joints) are leaking. People wrongly assume you put the ptfe on the thread of a compression fitting. If you need ptfe, it goes on the olive as thats were the leak will be from.
