About this deal

The focus motor is quite audible, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's obnoxious. It's fairly typical of the non-ultrasonic motors I've heard. This lens also gives a good focal length for a photographer who is exploring different kinds of genres without breaking his wallet. If a photographer wants to travel light for his overseas trip, this is one good option too. Besides, if the photographer wants to do a simple product shoot with budget studio lights, this lens is capable of it too. MTF testing revealed a mixed bag of sharpness results, with the maximum focal length the weakest in terms of both sharpness and colour fringing. Tests conducted on other Tamron superzooms in the past suggest that the results from this review sample may be below par but the longest focal length weakness has always been present. Hi Keith, it should works since it is meant for x-mount cameras. If possible, you may consider to bring your camera down to your retailer to give it a try. Chromatic aberration is most pronounced at the two ends of the zoom - there's barely any in the middle of the range (around 100mm). At both 18mm and 270mm it gives visually-objectionable green/magenta fringing. Note that Nikon SLRs will compensate for this in their JPEG processing, but other brands won't.

The Tamron 18-250mm carries a "Macro" designation, and it does surprisingly well at close focusing. The closest focus distance at 250mm is about 21cm (8 inches) from the subject to the front of the lens element, at which point it captures an area about 73mm (~2.9 inches) wide on our Canon EOS-20D test body. (A 1.6x crop factor camera.) That's a pretty small area, and the 8 inches of working distance would be very welcome in working with some subjects. Hola! At 18mm, a small shape can be seen in what otherwise appears to be a landscape picture of a green field and partly-cloudy sky. As usual with a long-extending lens, gravity has an effect on the rotational force required to change focal lengths.

filters attached to the front of this lens do not rotate (helpful when using certain types of filters including circular polarizer filters). Great range of focal lengths, lightweight, no need to keep changing lenses so protecting the sensor from the elements. Here is a comparison table showing the MFD and MM (Maximum Magnification) of some comparable lenses. Thank you for detailed review. Would you turn off IS on Fuji xs10 and let VC of lens t

The Canon, Nikon and Sony mount versions of this lens will mount on full-frame DSLRs; on Nikon cameras DX crop mode will be automatically selected (and the camera will therefore shoot at reduced resolution). On Sony cameras you can select the APS-C crop manually. However the lens's image circle doesn't cover the 35mm full frame format at any focal length, giving severe vignetting regardless of focus distance. The examples below were shot with the lens set to infinity focus. Stopping down the aperture to f/5.6 makes a significant difference in image quality and the entire frame is sharp at f/8. This lens is the superzoom of choice if you want maximum telephoto reach – and it performs rather well, considering its massive 22x zoom range. However, Tamron’s 16-300mm has a slightly wider angle of view, is smaller and lighter in weight, and better value for money. Tamron 18-400mm: SpecificationsIn this case, I carefully shot 651 shots handheld as motionless as possible - and then evaluated the results.
