The characters in the story are crafted very thoughtfully. Mrs. Lovejoy is my favorite character in the story. In the beginning, I hated her for being so strict with students. She didn't give permission to triplet to seat together but as I read further, I understood Mrs. Lovejoy better. She has a purpose to it. In the beginning, I felt that the story was moving at a slow pace but later on it became very interesting.

My personal favourite part is when Bully Selma takes a rough turn, will it stay permanently that way. Another part is when her Mum gets a bit worried about the beginning of the Butterfly garden, will Tina and Selma be able to raise enough money to get all the flowers for there garden? What will happen to all there hard work… One sad part is when Tina’s sisters Philippa and Madeline will not except Selma as part of their life. Tina`s just about to give up all her hope on the butterfly garden when the first one appears but will Tina still carry on believing that more Butterflies will come or shall she just give up! Find out in this brilliant book.

She is the smallest out of her sisters, due to a weak heart, and had to stay in hospital for a few days after she had been born. Tina is not encouraged to do sports because of her illness, so she often feels left out. Tina has a special china doll called Baby, who Selma the bully stole and kept to herself. Tina dosen't have a confidence that she can do things on her own. She was also feeling lonely as Phil and Maddy made friends on their tables. Mrs. Lovejoy, their new class teacher separated them. She made them seat on three different tables. Tina was made to sit with Selma, a bully in the class, along with four other kids who were stronger than her.

It is about a girl called Tina who is a triplet. Her sisters Phil and Maddie can just about do everything better than her. Tina is much smaller than her sisters and relies on them most of the time. They protect her from Selma Johnson, the meanest girl in class. When the girls start scary Miss Lovejoy's class, they are split up and Tina has to sit next to Selma Johnson! But Tina becomes friends with Selma and they start a butterfly garden. Tina draws lots of pictures of butterflies and sends one in to Ruby Red, her favourite television programme. She gets to go on Ruby Red's show with Phil, Maddie and Selma. They meet up with Ruby Red (who appeared in Double Act when she was a child) and her twin sister Garnet, who is the executive producer. Lastly, having her characters from another book 'Double Act' all grown up and acting/producing television was GOLD! MORE PLEASE! The Butterfly Club by Jacqueline Wilson is a heartwarming story about Tina, one of a set of triplets, who was born smaller than her sisters and with a small heart. As well as winning many awards for her books, including the Children’s Book of the Year, Jacqueline is a former Children’s Laureate, and in 2008 she was appointed a Dame. Philippa Maynard- Tina and Maddie's sister. She is the smart and girlish one, who prefers secret clubs and such things to sport and exercise. She is also the boss.

Despite Mum's, Phil or Maddie's protests, Tina will be next to Selma. Selma is famous for being a bully and Tina is her ideal victim. Tina learns though that she can stand on her own two feat and that some people aren't as bad as they seem. Tina has new interests and exciting things happen when she is asked to make a butterfly garden with her least favourite classmate.
