It seems that the writer was bored with the romance stuff and she didn’t feel like writing a good romance so she tried the business world. Those parts were very boring for me. If she had been a mother, if she had had a job, an activist for something, anything really. That would have helped to make her more interesting. As things stand she was a rich wife. It looks like Vi Keeland is becoming a go to author for me. I know there are complaints saying her stories are so similar, but The Invitaiton was exactly what I was looking for. However, I did struggle with pacing, skimming through filler scenes and connecting with the characters. This, ultimately, hampered my enjoyment level. Amongst them is a killer – but who? As a storm traps them on the island and past betrayals and grievances are revealed, nerves fray and friendships begin to fracture.
