Another Mesoamerican legend tells of the brave and noble sacrifice of Nanahuatzin during the creation of the fifth sun. Humble Nanahuatzin sacrificed himself in fire to become the new sun, but the wealthy god Tecciztecatl hesitated four times before he finally set himself alight to become the Moon. Due to Tecciztecatl's cowardice, the deities felt that the Moon should not be so bright as the Sun, so one of the deities threw a rabbit at his face to diminish his light. [9] Another version of the legend says that Tecciztecatl was in the form of a rabbit when he sacrificed himself to become the Moon, casting his shadow there. The Jade Rabbit is the name of a scout rifle in the Destiny series of games. In Destiny 2, players can visit the Moon and find miniature statues of chibi-styled jade rabbit dolls which accept offerings of rice cake. [19]

In the movie Over the Moon, there is a rabbit called 'Jade' and he is the companion of the goddess Chang'e. The rabbit is also green like jade. Having left Poland for England during World War II, the family had been settled in London until a disastrous relationship with a married man left Mila desperate to make a fresh start. She and Magda have bought a neglected old house in the Cornish countryside and are planning to restore it to its former glory and turn it into a guest house. However, not everyone is happy to see the house under new ownership and the Prusiks receive a hostile welcome. The American emo act, Jets to Brazil, has a song "Perfecting Loneliness" that features the Apollo recording discussing the legend. Then all the young men passed on. The hare was very pleased, thinking that he had found a cure. He went and bathed in the sea and then came out and sat where the wind could blow upon him.

Full of cornish folklore and history and set in an eerily mysterious house, this book begs to be read in October! Since it seems as though Jane Johnson has written many books, and this is her first book I have read, I would definitely try another of her books before writing her off my list. I did enjoy parts of her story telling, but wish it would have led somewhere sooner rather than after I had lost interest. In Mayan art, glyphs, hieroglyphics, and inscriptions, a rabbit frequently is shown with the Moon Goddess and another deity related to the Moon. [ citation needed] Please keep quite still, or I shall not be able to count. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine—”Sounds guite interesting, isn't it? I thougt so myself, however I was dissapointed. The magical part of the story was porly done and sometimes even distracted from the mystery we had througout the book. Also there were some plot holes, that made me cringe. The pase of the story dragged too much and I was bored for the majority of the book.
