The flavours are typical Speyside but with a summer twist. It's full of vanilla flavours but there is a definite hint of summer fruits. Light, sweet and smooth, the whisky is beautifully balanced. It's a refreshing whisky that's perfectly pitched for a summer dram. I have not enjoyed a sweet whisky like this in a long time. Aberlour's use of two barrels to age the single malt - Oloroso Sherry casks and first fill American Oak casks - has lead to a unique but drinkable option. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a whisky aimed at the mass market and casual drinkers who want to experience the best of the various whisky regions without diving into expensive versions and limited editions.

The colour is golden amber and the nose has a lovely sweetness and richness to it. Aromas of brown sugar, caramel and heather honey mingle with some dried fruit (think of raisin, sultana and candied orange peel especially) initially. Then a hint of ripe brambles comes through along with a good pinch of baking spice (imagine cinnamon and all-spice in particular) and a distinct oat-like quality. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us.Aberlour is a premium entry-level whisky. That basically means it is a perfect whisky for those to try the best that Speyside has to offer while still delivering the taste and flavours of a top quality single malt.

I’ve no idea for how long it matured in sherry casks, but judging by the aroma and the flavours, it was a considerable amount. I don’t think anyone tasting this blind, would guess this to be anything else than a big time sherry bomb. Aberlour 14 Years Old Double Cask (58,2%, OB for LMdW, 150 bts.) Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. I've never really experimented with whisky from Speyside, a region in North East Scotland around the River Spey known for its best-selling whiskies such as The Glenlivet and Glenfiddich. This is a bottle for those who enjoy their single malt whisky and want something high quality at a fair price. It's a good bottle to experiment with Speyside whiskies if you have not had much experience and the light flavours mean it is a great whisky for warm evenings and summer days. There you find the 'peated' whiskies - which means it is those with a smokier taste. My favourite comes from Laphroaig, a love-it-or-hate-it whisky that tastes a little like smoked ham and can taste a bit like medicine for some. Once a novelty when The Balvenie started finishing whisky, this is now a very common (almost traditional) procedure that doesn’t really stand out from the crowd. That said, Aberlour has a long history of double maturation so they know what they’re doing. Aberlour 08-year-old Campbell's Distillery - cubic bottle, screw cap, "over 8 years old", Est. 1845

If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms, such decision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. While you don’t encounter many Aberlour whiskies from independent bottlers, the distillery itself does release single cask bottlings every once in a while. They do this mostly in collaboration with a third party, in this case La Maison du Whisky, the French retail outlet and importer. There are only a few distilleries truly known for releasing sherry matured whiskies, and Aberlour is certainly one of them. Their entire core range is highlighted by sherry influenced drams, with the Aberlour a’bunadh probably the most well-known example. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products.

Malt Whisky Yearbook 2023

There is definitely nothing wrong with Aberlour 14 years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. I've been a whisky drinker for several years now but my tastes are pointed towards options from Islay. I'll be sharing the bottle at BBQs with others because that is what this Aberlour 14 years whisky is all about - sharing and enjoying. That can't be said of all whiskies, particularly if your friends and family are not single malt drinkers.
