Description

This cool demo uses hot and cold water mixed with a little food coloring to demonstrate how ocean currents form. (The plastic sea animals are just for fun!) I think that the book is a really good way to introduce creatures and animals that live in the sea to the children in a way they would understand and remember.

I liked the book Commotion in the Ocean because it teaches young kids about the different types of animals in the sea and how they interact with each other. It used colorful pictures to tell about the different animals that live in the sea. I also enjoyed how the story got my sisters interested in it and learned off of it to.Here’s another surprisingly easy ocean craft for kids. Cut disposable sponges into coral shapes, then stamp an underwater scene. After the water play, we were ready to create our ice cream sundaes at the Polar Bear Sundae Station. Waffle bowls filled with vanilla ice cream were topped with marshmallow ears, chocolate chip eyes and a mini Oreo cookie muzzle. You will find easy-to-print and use maths puzzles, word cards, colouring sheets and role-play resources - take a look. Lesson ideas to support the teaching of Commotion in the Ocean I decided to read the book “Commotion in the Ocean” because the illustrations on the front cover caught my attention. “Commotion in the Ocean” is a children’s picture book. The book was very well illustrated and written. The book is written and illustrated by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz. The book shows many different sea animals from crab to sharks and many more.

Today I want you to think of as many sea creatures as you can and choose a favourite that is not in the book. You are going to find out a bit about that creature and start making your own poem that could be added to an Oak Class Commotion in the Ocean book. Think about what they look like, how they move or the funny things that make them unique. Again, each of these worksheets is supported by an interactive Smart board 10 notebook file to aid teaching and provide extra practice for pupils. Leo isn't like other lion cubs. Instead of chasing zebras and antelopes, he wants to make friends with them! But can a lion who's so different ever fit in with the rest of his pride? Learn how Leo's kindness brings happiness to the jungle in this colourful picture book story. In the book the author gave facts about the animals but the author made it seem like the animals were speaking directly to the children for example, the swordfish said, "I like to chase after small fishes" and this would engage the children and make it seem like they understand the animals language. A layer of oil floating on the water helps make wave action more obvious. You can do ocean activities like this one in person or as an online demo.

Historic Seaport

The narrators of the story are both authors Giles and David. They tell the story from their point of view and of what they think of the creatures. We didn’t do this one, but I love this Don’t Soak the Shark game from Toddler Approved. It’s great for practicing letter matching.

Understanding the World (Science, Design & Technology, Computing, History, Geography, RE & Languages) This week we will be using the story 'Commotion in the Ocean'. If you do not have a copy at home then I have attached a PowerPoint and PDF copy below, along with a YouTube video of the book being read. This book is about all different kinds of fish and animals that live in and around the sea. It explains each of the creatures telling what they look like and how they live. This book teaches that the ocean is way more than just a mass of water. It shows that it is a home to more living things than anyone can imagine. I believe the purpose of this book is to educate people on creatures of the sea. There is not specifically a theme in this book.

Here’s another way to explore sea creatures. Each student chooses their own favorite, then dives deep to learn all about it. Have kids give a presentation, design a slideshow, or even make their own documentary! A seashore adventure with sassy seagulls, singing sea life and an environmental issue which is growing rapidly out of control.

26. Make a tasty ocean-themed snack

You can make it easier or harder for your children by choosing between the different mats. There are two with six images and one with three. To make things really difficult, why not put all of the mats together? You could create a group activity out of this challenge. The setting of the story takes place in present day fiction. The story is told about the ocean. All the animals live under water or by the sea. Commotion in the Ocean is a handy springboard for developing all kinds of skills across the curriculum. Inspire and engage with Commotion in the Ocean Activities and Resources Design and Layout: I enjoyed how as you are going through the story you are 'meeting' all of the different animals and learning about them.
