The Right Words: when you need them most: Ashworth, Donna

I cant thank Donna and my friend enough for this. Another friend spookily sent me another of Donna poems- a "saw this and thought of you" moment. Donna clearly touches many and gets it big time. Never understimate the power of words: they can wound they can heal, they can scar for life and they can take you away to a very different place. If you are organising a funeral service some of these are ideal to be read at those. As I said earlier in my review my mum recently died and we chose a poem my daughter remembered from school called Funeral Blues by W.H. Auden. There were many in this book that I could and would have had. THE LOSS OF A MOTHER is a really good one and I took a deep breath expecting to really tear up as my own mum died quite recently but it was THE LOSS OF A FATHER that made me the most emotional, the one that had me nodding in agreement with its words and sentiment, especially with the part where your father has already planted the answers you seek etcYour instinct for knowing what (and who) is worth your time, will grow and flourish like ivy on a castle wall. Short funeral poem by Margaret Mead, ideal for a eulogy. The words are a message of remembrance and love in times of grief. It’s as if she’s got a hotline to your head. She gets inside your mind, rummages round all those piles of messy-feely thoughts, even the ones in the darkest corners, then heads for your heart. Popular funeral poem based on a short verse by David Harkins. An uplifting poem about being grateful for a loved one’s life.
